Mingala Bah! (Greetings in Burmese) and Happy New Year -- Burmese New Year is being celebrated right now.
We want you to know about an opportunity through a BSB crowdfunding campaign
to help complete a school in Burma that is remotely located in the southern Irrawaddy Delta.
Myn Ka Kwin is an island village in the Pin Lel Ka Lay River and its mangrove forest. Reachable only by boat, this close-knit village of fisherfolk wants its children to have access to education through secondary school. Right now, 490 students (some from surrounding villages) are enrolled through grade 8. The kids whose families can afford it send them to boarding school in the city, but for many students their education stops at 8th grade.
A good friend of BSB, Eitan Simanor, has created a lovely video about this village. Please go to our campaign page to view the video and make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation.
The school expansion that BSB seeks to fund provides more than just three classrooms and two grade levels: once the building is complete, the school will meet a standard that ensures the government will supply teachers and pay their salaries.
ALL GIFTS WILL BE MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR BY AN ANONYMOUS DONOR!!!!
With your help, Myin Ka Kwin will have its school this year!
COMING SOON: Our spring newsletter to tell you about our projects for 2017.
Thank you so much for your generous, ongoing support to provide an education for the poorest children in Burma.
