Mid-Atlantic District Championship (DCMP)

After success at our district events, Team 1257 has qualified for the district championship! DCMP will take place at Stabler Arena in Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA 18015, from April 5-7 (Thursday to Saturday). It goes from 8 AM to 8 PM on all three days. Transportation is available for all students and up to five parent chaperones. More information about the event can be found here. (Note: all times are approximate.)

If you are attending DCMP, the permission slip can be found here and:
1. a shared photo of the slip must be shared with Ms. Gerstein in Google Drive
2. a physical copy must be brought to the bus on Thursday. If you do not have a functioning printer, notify Mr. Gerstein no later than Wednesday night.
The bus for DCMP leaves at 6 AM, so please be at the Magnet parking lot by 5:50 AM. Thanks!

If we perform well enough at DCMP, we will qualify to attend the FRC Championship in Detroit! You can keep up with our progress at this link.

Success at Hatboro!

We made it to semifinals at Hatboro with our amazing alliance partners, Team 219 and Team 5181! Later during the awards ceremony, we won the Gracious Professionalism® (GP) Award! GP is an important tenet of FIRST®, referring to the perfect blend of knowledge, competition, and empathy that makes FRC what it is. In the photo on the right, team members are walking to collectively receive the award.

Finally, one of our team members, Daniel Matlin, was chosen as a semi-finalist for the Dean's List award for FRC! At DCMP, Daniel will have the opportunity to become a finalist and advance to the last stage, at the Championship in Detroit. Congrats!

Parent Chaperones Needed

On Thursday, April 5th, through Saturday, April 7th, Team 1257 will be competiting at the district championship. Unfortunately, we're short on parents chaperones! We can use all the help we can get. To sign up for parent chaperoning, please follow this link. Transportation is provided. We need as many volunteers as possible, and any time is appreciated. Thank you.

Family Sponsorships

This year, we have started a new initiative to include a free T-shirt to each student. Although it costs the team more, we believe it is important to ensure that everyone will be able to attend competition representing Team 1257. Family donations make these purchases that help members of the team, such as these free T-shirts, possible. Families who donate a certain amount will be displayed on the back of next year's team shirts to show our appreciation for their contribution. If you would like to donate to help us with this initiative, please contact the team at For more information about sponsor benefits, view this link.

What's going on:

  • All: competed at Hatboro

  • Build: reassembled the drivetrain gearboxes; replaced elevator bearings

  • Business/Outreach: talked to judges and presented documentation (helped win GP); gave advice to other teams about how to improve documentation and get new sponsors

  • Design: brought spirit gear to competition

  • Electronics: redid some of the power wires on the robot after a match when the drivetrain failed; went around to check on other teams with possible electrical issues at competition

  • Media: took photos and video of competition

  • Programming: improved cube gripping during teleoperated mode; tested paths for side autos (switch and scale); implemented a method to raise the elevator during auto that still has to be tested

  • Safety: got the battery spill kit; kept people safe

  • Strategy: updated scouting app, data processing; prescouted for DCMP
