COVID-19 Disruptions
As most of our followers are aware, we had to cancel our spring production of Flaming Idiots, originally scheduled to run from April 24 through May 2nd. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we naively rescheduled this play to November of 2020 and built the remainder of the season to follow in January-February 2021 and in April-May 2021.
Unfortunately, live arts events that rely on audiences greater than 50 people will be the most affected by this pandemic and will likely one of the last to reopen. When announcing their reopening plan on May 6, the Province of BC indicated that events with more than 50 people are not proposed to happen until Phase 4, which must be preceded by a successful vaccine, effective treatment or community immunity. In addition to audience limits, we cannot resume rehearsals until safe to do so for our casts and crews.
We can confidently anticipate that our scheduled November performances will need to be delayed again, but at this time, we have no idea for how long. Of course, this will also disrupt the remainder of the 2020-2021 Season. We will keep our supporters informed on our web site, on social media and in future newsletters.
Tickets already sold for these shows will remain valid for any new dates. However, if customers require a refund, they can apply through the Venables Theatre by email at tix@venablestheatre.ca
