Practice of the Month
Dr. David Scharf is a Periodontist practicing in Babylon NY. He is 1986 graduate of the Boston University BA/DMD 6 year program. He completed his specialty training in Periodontics at New York  University College of Dentistry. He is a former clinical assistant professor in the department of Implant dentistry at New York University. Dr. Scharf is Board Certified in Periodontics and is a Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration. He was the first Periodontist on Long Island certified in LANAP and is currently on the faculty at the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry teaching the LANAP procedure. Dr. Scharf has published articles in the Journal of Periodontology, the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants , The International Journal or Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and the Journal of the American Dental Association. He is the Director of the Integrated Dental Group, a Long Island Based Study Club and is on the board of directors of the North American Society of Periodontists. His Babylon practice has a tremendous focus on the patient experience. He has been voted Best Dentist on Long Island for 6 years by the readers of the Long Island Press.

Case Study: Bilateral Sinus Lift & Ridge Augmentation

Description: Patient underwent Bilateral Sinus Lift and Ridge Augmentation procedure (Post-Op CT Scan).
Method: The right side was completed first. VEGA Oral Gel was applied to the right side, while the surgery proceeded on the left side. After the left side was completed (40 minutes later) a photo was taken.
Conclusion: The right side after 40 min of VEGA Gel application shows significantly less edema, tissue exhibits advanced healing, minimal bleeding.
