Teacher Train...Thank you!
A big huge thank you to our amazing Pinetree Teachers who spent their own personal time to come out a do the Pinetree Teacher Train on Friday.  I hope you know how much it meant to our kiddos. They missed your faces in person and they all loved it.  Also, based on the comments we've read, it even meant a lot to us parents.  We even seen comments from former Pinetree Pioneers and their parents that still call this neighborhood their home who enjoyed it greatly.  Please check out our Facebook page for lots of pictures and videos of the Teacher Train a long with lots of wonderful thank you comments.

Teacher Appreciation Week - May 4th through 8th
We think more than ever we appreciate all that the Pinetree Teachers do for our students.  Even though we're not together on campus, we should still celebrate the amazing Teachers we have at Pinetree.  The Pinetree PTA is working on a fun surprise for all of them but here are suggestions how you can also celebrate them from afar.
  • Have your child make or decorate a picture or card, or if your child can write a note then post it in their Google classroom for their teacher to enjoy.
  • If you would like to purchase a little something you can buy a e-gift card from your teacher's favorite place and send them an e-gift card to their teacher email address. Please refer to their favorite lists on our website.  Link at the button below.
  • If you would like to show them some love or school spirit you can make posters to hang in front of the school (weather permitting). A PTA person will come take pictures each night and send emails to the teachers so they can see the creative pictures.
  • The school also thought it would be fun to have students write a message to their teacher and send it to either Mrs. Stilson or Mrs. Klahs through email and they will put together a short video.

Superintendent Updates as of 4/24/2020

Dear Sulphur Springs Families,

This past week, I had the opportunity to listen to several staff members share the successes that they are seeing with our Distance Learning Program for our students. I want to thank you for partnering with our teachers and Principals, and for sharing those successes with our staff. Our teachers and staff understand that it has been a challenge to get all of us moving to a Distance Learning platform, and we so appreciate all that you are doing to support your child’s educational program.

District Staff are continuing to focus on making sure that parents have a way to communicate to staff daily.  This past Monday, your child’s Principal communicated to you about when there will be a school staff member available to answer phones.  If you do not know the phone number and/or hours, please refer to the District’s website located at www.sssd.k12.ca.us.  In addition, please know that a staff member will also be at the District office to answer phones daily from 10:00AM to 2:00PM.

This past week, we have continued to serve free meals to our children, 18 years and younger at Canyon Springs and Mitchell Community Schools from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. Please remember that your child will receive 3 meals at one time at Canyon Springs and 2 meals at Mitchell. We highly encourage you to drive up in your car and receive free nutritional meals for your child if you have not tried this yet.

Please note, that our school nurses have also completed their deployment of medication to students. If you know that you still need to pick-up your child’s medication, please contact your school Principal to arrange a time to pick up the medication.

Around mid-May, you will be receiving information as to when we will start to deploy your child’s personal items from the classrooms. It is important that staff and families have very clear procedures for the deployment so that we practice social distancing. We appreciate your patience as we work through the details of how this will occur at each site.

Thank you for all that you are doing, and please continue to stay safe and well.

Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi, Superintendent.

New Principal at Pinetree for Next School Year

NOTICE FROM THE DISTRICT:

Dear Pinetree Families,

I am calling to inform you that Pinetree’s Principal Ms. Deb Stilson will be moving out of the area at the end of the school year, and therefore will not be returning as principal for the 2020-2021 school year.

Your child’s education and well-being are our most important priorities. One of our goals is to maintain consistency for the students and staff at Pinetree Community School through this transition as the community welcomes a new principal for the 2020-2021 school year. With this in mind, the selection process to establish a new principal for Pinetree Community School has begun.  We look forward to the completion of the hiring process before the end of the school year, and Ms. Stilson will be available to assist the new Principal to ensure a smooth transition.

The District is asking for you to complete a survey regarding what you feel are the needs for Pinetree Community School. Please go to Pinetree School’s website where you will find the link.

We thank you for your support as we work through the transition process.

Sincerely,

Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi

Superintendent

Box Tops to Support Pinetree PTA
During this time, you can still support the Pinetree PTA by continuing to scan your store receipts on the official box tops app and contributing them to Pinetree Community School.  We greatly appreciate your support.

There are some BIG changes happening to one of the easiest ways to raise money for Pinetree School. For every Box Top that is turned in, Pinetree earns 10 cents. They add up, and already this year, we have collected $765 for our students. However, how you collect Box Tops has changed this yearit has gone digital!

Box Tops is slowly transitioning to no longer printing Box Tops on the packaging of products, that is why it is so important to download the app and start scanning. However, until then, please keep clipping and sending any Box Tops that you may find. We will be earning money for Pinetree both ways.  We suggest anytime you go food shopping, go ahead and scan that receipt in the app.  The app will look at each of the items and do the work for you to see if any of the items qualify for a box top and automatically contribute it to Pinetree.  Please note you have to scan the receipt within 14 days of the purchase.

Check out the video below for more information on this change:
See how easy it is to earn for your school with the NEW Box Tops App! Watch this how-to video to for a simple, step-by-step explanation of how it works—then give it a try yourself.
Amazon Smile
During this difficult time, it's becoming more common to make online purchases especially through vendors like Amazon.  Please consider using Amazon Smile to support Pinetree Community School while making that purchase.  We greatly appreciate it.

Do you shop through Amazon?  If so, do it through AmazonSmile and Amazon will donate a percentage of every purchase to Pinetree PTA. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. Instead of going directly to the amazon.com url when shopping, book mark https://smile.amazon.com and choose one time that you want to support "Pinetree Community School PTA" and everytime you shop through that link going forward, you're supporting your child's school.  It's as easy as that!

Also, Good news! AmazonSmile is now available in the Amazon Shopping App to all AmazonSmile customers using supported Android devices.

If you are an AmazonSmile customer, you can now support Pinetree Community Elementary PTA in the Amazon shopping app on your Android device! Simply follow these instructions to turn on AmazonSmile and start generating donations.
  1. If you have the latest version of the Amazon Shopping App, open the App on your Android device.
  2. View Settings and select AmazonSmile.
  3. Follow the in-App instructions to complete the process.
If you do not have the latest version of the Amazon Shopping App, update your App. Click here for instructions.

AmazonSmile is not currently available for iOS users. We will notify everyone when it becomes available.
