Attendance Awareness Week - "Count Me In"
Pinetree Community School is putting on an "Attendance Awareness Week" this week (09/30-10/04) to show how important it is that your child comes to school everyday and on time.
To celebrate, they're having themed days this week: Monday: Crazy Sock Day - "Start your week off right!!" - Come wearing your craziest socks Tuesday: Twin Day - "School is where I can work with others!!" - Pick a friend and dress alike. Wednesday: Wacky Hair Day - "I have the power to come to school!" - Come with your wackiest hair style Thursday: Jersey Day - "Be part of a team attending school!!" - Come wearing your favorite sport team jersey Friday: School Spirit Wear Day - "Count Me In! I'm wearing Spirit Wear!" - Come wearing a spiritwear shirt or the school colors of grey or green.
50's Sock Hop Family Dance - Friday, October 11th
Let’s bring it back to the 50’s and Shake, Rattle and Roll
The Annual Pinetree Family Dance is back on Friday, October 11th from 5pm to 8pm and this time we're taking you back to the 50's for a Rockin' good time! Tickets are now on sale - $20 for first 2 attendees & $5 for each additional attendee. Tickets include delicious food, an awesome DJ with a variety of music to keep everyone having a good time, a photo booth to capture your smiles & lots of fun.
Whether you just want to make this a Father/Daughter date, Mother/Son date or a big ole' family outing, everyone is welcome to have a great time.
Please note this is a preorder event, tickets will not be sold at the door. Ticket orders due by Wednesday, October 9th
PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2019‐2020 theme “LOOK WITHIN”
Some parents have commented that this theme has been hard to explain to their kids. Try one of these explanations: What would your child see if they looked into the Harry Potter "Mirror of ERISED"...looking at someone from the inside vs. their outside...getting quiet with yourself and having a conversation with your own mind/your own heart...looking for answers to life's big challenges by relying on what YOU think you should do."
Pinetree students of all grades (TK‐6th) can get a jump start on their creativity and choose to enter one or all of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Photography, Visual Arts, and Music Composition.
Entries are due by Friday, October 4th. For rules or with any questions, please email reflections@pinetreepta.org

As you can see, we have kicked off our Membership drive with a cool "Dino-Mite" theme. Come join the Pinetree PTA and have a voice in your child's education. Please note that joining the PTA doesn't require you to attend the meetings or volunteer although we and your students would LOVE if you did. The Pinetree PTA was able to increase the membership count in the 2018-19 year over the 2017-18 school year. Let's show that we can do it again.
Also, the classes with the most memberships will win some really cool prizes.

Box Tops Program Changes
There are some BIG changes happening to one of the easiest ways to raise money for Pinetree School.For every Box Top that is turned in, Pinetree earns 10cents. They add up, and already this year, we have collectedalmost$200 forourstudents.However, how you collect BoxTopsis goingtobechangingthisyear…it is going digital!
BoxTopswill slowlytransitionto nolongerprinting Box Tops on the packagingof products,thatis whyitis soimportant to download the app and startscanning. However, untilthen,please keep clipping and sending anyBox Tops that youmayfind. Wewillbe earning money for Pinetreebothways. We suggest anytime you go food shopping, go ahead and scan that receipt in the app. The app will look at each of the items and do the work for you to see if any of the items qualify for a box top and automatically contribute it to Pinetree. Please note you have to scan the receipt within 14 days of the purchase.
Because of this change, we'll no longer be able to do classroom contests. We're working on an overall goal for the school and if we hit that goal - ALL of our student's will receive a fun party prize. More information on that soon.

Pinetree PTA Spirit Bundles
The Pinetree PTA is happy to bring back Pinetree Spirit Bundles as an easy way you can help donate to the Pinetree PTA. In return for your donation, you’ll receive great goodies and recognition. We have multiple donation tiers to choose from, you can donate on behalf of your family or business name and one of the best parts - your donation is tax deductible. This will help get Pinetree PTA on a great fundraising head start and depending on the tier, you will be able to get everything Pinetree PTA has to offer throughout the school year. Pinetree PTA fundraising provides complete funding for our enrichment classes including art and music instruction, as well as supporting classroom needs, field trips and school wide improvements.
You have until October 31st to buy a Spirit Bundle to earn the Academic Olympic Prizes and the Handprint on our new mural wall which will be added to the MPR in November.

Pinetree PTA Spiritwear
To go with our Dinosaur membership theme, we have some "Dino-Mite" new Spiritwear for the 2019-20 school year. Shirts will be available in green or grey and are 1 for $12 or 2 for $20. New this year - GLITTER PRINT for $1 for $13 or 2 for $22. We'll also have Women's V-Necks with the Glitter Print. Lastly, back from last year with the Pinetree Pioneers logo are the baseball hats, tote bags, pencils, lanyards, key chains and the Pioneer Pete Coonskin Caps. Don't forget to have your Pioneers wear their spiritwear or school colors of green or grey every Friday and show their Pinetree Pioneer Pride! The classes with the most students showing their Pride get recognition from Principal Stilson.

PTA Waivers
Three waivers went home with your students in their welcome packets. It's imperative that we receive those completed forms back ASAP so they can participate in PTA related activities including the carnival later this year.
Also, the photo waiver is needed in order for your student to be featured in special pages of the yearbook. If you don't want your child photographed, please make sure to fill out the photo waiver form with "NO" and make sure your student's names are printed clearly on the form. We received several forms back with a "NO" but no student names were listed.
