November-December 2018

This past September, we hosted our first High Tea at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre in Oakville. There were several teas to sample and tea sommelier, Tracey Carr-Snyder even created a specialty Ninth Life tea for us. Food, by Chef Kim of Red's Restaurant/Square One, was everywhere - scones, cookies, dessert bars, fruit trays, sandwiches and more. We held a silent auction and raffle too. Everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves.

Mid September was time for another PetSmart Adoption Weekend at all three PetSmart locations. Every site had many kittens and cats hoping to find homes. This has been a particularly heavy kitten season and it's not over yet.

The week after, Oakville Pet Smart ran a second mini adoption day, Thanks for Giving, featuring free microchipping for pets, with a donation to Ninth Life. We thank Dr. Padma Mullick and her assistant, Dallas Odd, from Rivergrove Animal Hospital, for the microchip clinic.

Cookies and muffins for sale, a huge gift basket raffle, and lots of kittens. We again thank Chef Kim of Red's Restaurant/Square One, and Ninth Life volunteer Margaret Nimela for the delicious treats.

Again this month we had a child and parents visit with gifts for our cats in the Oakville adoption centre at PetSmart. This generous little boy is Jackson, who celebrated his sixth birthday recently and wanted to share presents with the cats. Thank you so much, Jackson, and Happy Birthday. You made the cats and volunteers happy.

In early October, Nicety's, a kitchenware and giftware shop on the Lakeshore in Oakville, held a knife sharpening event with all proceeds going to Ninth Life Cat Rescue. Carol, the owner, adopted her cats from us and is a long time supporter of Ninth Life. She keeps a well stocked basket of catnip mice on the counter at her store with all proceeds going to supporting our cats. As well, she has been a generous supporter of our fundraising auctions. If you are in Oakville, drop by and see her beautiful store.Thank you, Carol!
It is almost time for our third annual Meowloween, to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion 609 in Brampton.

This is Pip and all the volunteers are in love with him. It is possible (but not certain) that he is FIV positive. If you would like to learn more, visit our website and read our latest article about FIV.

Also in our Articles section, read about diabetic cats, featuring Kenny and Charlie, both of whom are in long term foster care.

Lastly, read our article on how to keep your pet safe over the holidays.
