Change of Plans for August 12 Healthy Harvest at Indy Urban Acres to September 3 Virtual Lunch, plus other event updates
Change of Plans:
Indy Urban Acres Follow the Impact Moved to Virtual Meeting on September 3
Indy Urban Acres has contacted us with the sad news that they must cancel the Healthy Harvest event planned for Wednesday, August 12 at Indy Urban Acres. They had hoped they could safely welcome us to the farm, but they now believe the safest way to protect their staff and continue operating and meeting their goals of providing equitable access to free, high-quality produce is to keep the farm closed to the public for now.
Instead, Laura Johns, Development Coordinator, will be our guest speaker at our September First Thursday Virtual Lunch at noon on September 3.
Indy Urban Acres was our 2015 Change Maker $100,000 Grant recipient. IUA, a project of the Indianapolis Parks Foundation, is a collection of four organic farms used to empower and educate people by providing equitable access to free, high quality produce. Since 2011, Indy Urban Acres has grown into a multi-disciplinary farm that works to inspire transformational change within Indy’s food system by providing food justness for low-income families, educating thousands of youth through tours and farm-to-plate workshops, providing community engagement to thousands of volunteers and groups, and teaching teens valuable job skills.
Jeannie Infante Sager, Director, Women’s Philanthropy Institute, will be our keynote speaker. Jeannie will present the latest research on the state of women’s philanthropy in Indiana. Impact 100 Board members will address the selection of our 2020 Change Maker and how our members seek to improve our community.
This will be a great time for members and supporters to show the Power of Women Giving as One (r) by joining our grant pool for 2021.
This will be a webinar, September 22, 11am to noon. RSVP HERE. Those who RSVP will be sent instructions on how to log into the webinar.
Just like at our previous Annual Celebrations, all women who joined or pledged to join before July 31 (including women who are already making recurring payments for their 2021 membership) had their name entered into a drawing for $25 gift certificates to Pier 48. The winners are:
A special thanks to founding member Jenna Spurrier and Pier 48, where you'll find the freshest seafood and American cuisine in Downtown Indianapolis just steps away from all Downtown has to offer.
What did the media think of our 2020 grants?
Here's a few of the stories we generated in July as the result of our 2020 Change Maker Grants:
Join Now! The nonprofits winning our Change Maker Grants are making an impact on Marion and the surrounding donut counties, and it happens because of our members. And it's time to start building our 2021 grant pool so we can continue making an impact. Our goal is to grow our membership to over 500, allowing us to grant a Change Maker Grant of $100,000 in all five Focus Area Groups!
