Community Tree Limb Clean-up

NeighborWorks of Pueblo and LocalFood Pueblo have been busier than ever! This week NeighborWorks is helping coordinate efforts with the City of Pueblo for cleaning up fallen tree branches and limbs for elderly and disabled residents. You can see a news report from KOAA about the efforts by clicking here. We still need many volunteers for the clean-up efforts. If you or any family or friends can help out, please call or email NeighborWorks of Pueblo at 719-544-8078 or admin@nwpueblo.org.

La Familia Community Garden

For the second year NeighborWorks of Pueblo is sponsoring the La Familia Community Garden located at 814 E 5th Street in Pueblo. This year the garden is being manged by LocalFood Pueblo. There are a total of 19 in-ground garden plots each 3 feet by 8 feet in area. They are automatically irrigated and each plot is available for a mere $25 for the season (from May to October). If you or anybody you know is interested in a plot please contact Frank by phone at 719-423-4642 or email at fcordova@nwpueblo.org. Plots are rented on a first-come first-serve basis. We also are having a garden kick-off on May 13 from 9 AM to 1 PM at the garden. You can click here for additional event details.

Free Growing Cities Documentary Screening

LocalFood Pueblo will be showing the inspiring documentary film Growing Cities free of charge on May 20 at the Rawlings Library Infozone Theater (4th floor) at 11 AM. We'll have some snacks and refreshments and local Sierra Club members will join us for some discussion after the film. Thank You!

We would like to thank everyone for following LocalFood Pueblo and contributing in whatever ways you can. If you haven’t already please follow us on Facebook, check our website, and tell your friends about us. If you would like to help out more directly, you contact us to let us know how you’re interested in helping out. Since gardening season is just around the corner, school and community gardens will be seeking members and volunteers. If you would like to volunteer regularly at a Pueblo City Schools (District 60) school, the first step is to fill out a volunteer application agreement. It can be found on the district website at: http://www.pueblocityschools.us/vips  For District 70 or other schools please contact the school for information about volunteering.

Finally...

Please check out the Pueblo Food Finder and the Master Gardener Help Line. The Pueblo Alliance for Food Access created the Food Finder to help people find food assistance in Pueblo. Feel free to print and share the flyers or list. Thank you!
