MUSIC MARATHON

A special thanks to Tedo Wyman, Steve Cohen, and Bette Glenn, who gave up their weekend to make sure the event ran smoothly. Also thanks to the student volunteers who put in a lot of time.

SUSIE STORY #5

Susie certainly was a unique individual with a wicked sense of humor. She and I shared an interest in parallel universes and string theory. We went to some lectures together down at the 92nd St Y about 10 years ago.

I admired that she went back to school to pursue her desire to be an astrophysicist. I never knew if she was pulling my leg on that one.

The Guild should not forget that when she was recording secretary she suggested that we become incorporated and also apply for non-profit status...all the legal work to make that happened she gladly did.

Also we can thank her for putting the first major donations that we got into Treasury Bonds (her idea)....which paid for the scholarships we offered.

Her minutes of the board meetings were always hand written on the reverse side of pages from some Nyack Council on Parklands or other, in an effort to conserve paper.

She was way ahead of her time.

Rhoda Forte

Editor's note: I thought last month's story was "it", and then this came in from Rhoda - so we're still getting Susie Stories! If you have one to share, please send it by Feb. 15! Thanks.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Colleagues,

Wishing you all a very Healthy and Happy New Year. 2018 just seemed to fly by.

Last month we had an extremely successful Music Marathon, a mighty task since Marilyn Hazan relinquished her chair position. Thank you to all who participated, to all the volunteers, and a special thanks to Carole Tilson  for coordinating the event.

Look for some important changes to our website that are in the works.

Also, a wonderful social evening at Rosemary Waltzer's house on Saturday evening, Jan. 19th is coming up. This is our Annual Winter Pot Luck Dinner Party. Please contact Rosemary about what goodies you plan to bring.

So again, Happy New Year. Here's hoping that all your dreams come true and the coming days are filled with success, prosperity and above all good health.

Steve
