SUNDAY MAY 5th, 2019

We have a lovely group of students signed up for Adjudication, Concerto and Scholarship and we look forward to hearing them on the 5th. Thank-you to teachers for your devoted work with these students! We wish all students a happy audition experience.

Please make sure that your students bring their appointment form and adjudication forms (tops filled out), and their music with them the day of auditions. Students must supply judges with one score of each piece, so a duplicate copy will be needed if student is also playing from score. Remind parents that they must remain outside during the auditions to assure a quiet and uncrowded waiting time for auditioners.

If you would like to volunteer to help on May 5th - please contact Christine - we need monitors and hospitality folks to keep the day moving smoothly.

Dear Colleagues,

Well it's definitely spring. Flowers are blooming, the trees are turning green, and the allergy sufferers are suffering.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, May 1st, at 10:15. Our member, Melissa Alexander, will be presenting a program that combines yoga, the Alexander Technique and something called Brain Gym. She will demonstrate how she uses these 3 practices in her vocal and piano studios. It sounds very interesting and I hope to see many of you there and taking part.
May 5th is the Young Peoples' Auditions, Scholarship Auditions and Concerto Competition at the Rockland Conservatory, followed by the Blue and Gold Recital on Sunday, May 19, also at the Conservatory.
Please hold this date:
Wednesday June 5th, which is our Annual Luncheon. More on that will be announced shortly.
Happy Spring.

Updating you all on the progress of our initiative to improve communications in the Guild - our new PR associate, Keryn Waltzer, would love to talk to you. Don't be scared - this is not an attempt to recruit anyone into service! The board truly wants to learn what the majority of the members, active and inactive, discern about the Guild. We absolutely NEED to hear from you, and it won't take much time - you can choose a time that works for you from her calendar. Keryn is a delightful person and she will guide you through a short conversation, which will remain totally anonymous to everyone but Keryn. We are proceeding with a plan to completely re-do our website - making it more interactive in many ways. Likewise we hope to schedule/create events and programs in ways that will make it possible for more members to hear and participate. So you can see how crucial it is that we move forward in a way that includes majority opinion as much as possible.
Tamara Bering Sunguroff died March 21, 2019 at age 94. She devoted her life to performing and teaching music. She sang leading roles in opera companies in NYC, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Chicago. She taught multiple generations of students in voice and piano, as well as teaching at RCC. She was an active, participating member of RCMTG. Many will recall the lovely luncheon we had in her honor several years ago - she was a valued member.
