Solo workshop with Kim Porter
Every Sunday from 6:30-9:30pm
$15 per sesson

Do you need something meaningful to do between acting gigs? Do you have a story you are itching to tell? Let award-winning writer/performer Kim Porter help you make that happen at the Solo Workshop.

This workshop is designed to help participants generate new material, support projects already in development, and offer accountability in a relaxed and generous small group environment. The Solo Workshop is designed to meet the participant where they are and is therefore ideal for both beginners and established writer-performers. Because the Solo Workshop is employing an on-going, drop-in model for participation, artists can work at their own pace and budget.

For more information about the Solo Workshop contact Kim Porter at

Featured Performer:
Jackie Rich
Jackie has been improvising for nearly a decade. Improv has made Jackie more curious and observant and everything is fair game when she performs. She is a character driven improviser and tries to become possessed by them  so  she can say and do what that character would say and do. Jackie  loves being part of a team of adults who are playful together, spontaneously creating new and different characters, relationships, environments, stories, puns, improbable situations, and games. Improvising also gives her an opportunity to travel new paths, to experience new life choices and build her own adventures in a safe and supportive environment

Favorite quote/advice from a coach/instructor:
Every improv show has a life of it’s own.  It is a magical, independent, living, breathing entity and not necessarily the tame beast that the performers intended it to be.  As performers, our job is to hang on and see where the show takes us - Shane Shannon

You can see Jackie perform with:
Plunk and Zombie Gourmet every 1st Saturday.
Featured team every second Saturday

Salmon Shane

These two have been performing together for more than seven years. Their improv style is based heavily on the straight/absurd dynamic in the most unconventional way. They are always pushing the envelope on grounding their characters' worlds with the most ridiculous points of view.

Featured Performer: Javier Gilmore
Javier began improvising in 2008 under Matt Rosin with the Originals. He has been influenced by the performance and teaching of local improvisers Jacque Arend and Stacey Hanlon. He has performed in both short form and long form improv shows. Javier has performed in a vast number of formats ranging from Harold, Armando, Close Quarters and Organic and he loves them all.

The best thing for him about improv is how, just by doing it over and over, you begin to train yourself to be someone who can access the power of right now! It will allow you will listen better, give more attention, and be more present in your life. He also uses improv in his creative consultant business, Bold Burro, that uses improvisation to help businesses and non-profits. Applied Improv for the win!!
