Capturing Gamble Garden on your iPhone
Taken on an iPhone by Sarah Cornwell
Gamble Garden is a photographer's delight -- and thanks to modern technology, anyone can become an amateur photographer. Beautiful shots of Gamble Garden are as close as the iPhone in your pocket! All it takes is a basic knowledge of the iPhone's camera features and a bit of practice.
For example, did you know that your iPhone camera's Burst Mode setting allows you to take 10 photos per second? Burst Mode is a great way to maximize your chances of getting the perfect shot. Use Burst Mode when you're taking photos of kids running or birds hopping through Gamble Garden. This is one setting you don't even have to turn on. Simply tap and hold your finger on the shutter button! Your iPhone will keep taking pictures until you release the shutter button. You'll have dozens of photos to choose from; simply delete the ones you don't like and save the ones you love.
Another great iPhone camera feature is Portrait Mode. Available on the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, or one of the XS models, Portrait Mode lets you take close-up portraits of people or objects with a beautifully blurred background. Use Portrait Mode to capture your loved ones at Gamble with flowers in the background, or make a flower the star of your photo. To use Portrait Mode, just open your iPhone Camera and swipe to Portrait Mode. Make sure your subject is between two and eight feet from the camera. The software will help you frame your subject by displaying tips on your screen. Once you see a yellow banner on your screen with your current lighting effect (i.e. "Natural Light"), you're ready to take your shot.
