March 2019

The first day of Spring is less than a week away. Soon Gamble Garden will be burgeoning with colorful blossoms, and the longer daylight hours mean more time to spend enjoying their beauty. The tulips in the Wisteria Garden are just coming into bloom, and this year’s color selection is sure to be a stunner. The Allee Garden is a sight to behold, with over one thousand Mt. Hood Daffodils in bloom. Our evergreen clematis, 'Apple Blossom', is beginning to creep up the gazebo frame, and our collection of heritage camellias provide pops of color everywhere you go. We've even added enhanced signage for these camellias so visitors can learn more about their origins and history.

Photographing children at Gamble

Spring is a great time to take your kids to Gamble and show them the signs of life springing up all around them. It's also a great time to take photos of your kids as they experience the wonders of nature. Photographer Travis Watts likes to use movement and action to get great natural images from toddlers and young children. Fortunately, it's not difficult to get kids moving at Gamble -- they love running up and down Gamble's pathways, or flitting from flower to flower, just like a bumblebee, discovering new things all the time.

Wondering what kinds of outfits for kids and families work well for photo sessions? Travis has color guides on his website and a Pinterest page full of outfit ideas for the entire family!
