The board took a well deserved breather in August to recover from the Annual Regatta.  I want to thank all the members who came out for the event and provided invaluable support.  It’s because of you that this all-volunteer organization thrives and has the good  reputation that we have.

Based on the price of crabs and continued heat we have decided to postpone the annual crab feast until September 29th.  This will hopefully ensure a more comfortable and affordable event for all.

We could really use 2-4 additional members to man the CRYC membership table between noon and 1600 and help support the Corsica River Day* to be held on September 15th.  There will be a wide assortment of displays and vendors highlighting conservation and other activities occurring along the river.  Even if you cannot help you should consider bring the family to enjoy the wide array of displays and activities.

Thinking ahead, please mark your calendars for both the annual meeting to be held on Oct 20th beginning at 1600 and the closing work party on November 3rd beginning at 0900.

Thanks to all for your continued support

Mike Hollis
Commodore, CRYC

>Annual Regatta - July 26, 27, 28
Art Silcox, Fleet Captain

The Annual Regatta has come and gone and as usual it was a great success with great weather. We had multiple classes ( Penguins, “A” Cat’s , Comets, Albacores, Hobie Waves and cruising Cat Boats) and conditions were light to moderate on the Corsica River course on both Saturday and Sunday. The Eastern Shore Chicken Dinner with fixings was excellent as usual. On Sunday we had the trophy presentations with a new trophy presented by Gail Owings. The Dorsey Owings Memorial was presented to the outstanding Junior Participant Brooke Allen.

>Membership Committee
John Friel and Gayle Jayne

We currently have 97 members.

The board has decided to ask new members to complete a club orientation as an obligation of full membership.  This will allow pre-members to learn how things are done, what is available to them, and how to maintain club assets.  It will also allow them to ask questions and exchange ideas with a board member to facilitate a smooth transition.  We intend to hold orientations 4 - 6 X per year.

We had a great racing season, hosting and/or participating in three regattas in about a five week period!  All were well attended and successful.

Club racing begins again this September with the CRYC Fall series, September 8, 22, and October 6.

Dear Members of the RHYC and CRYC:
This is a reminder that are invited to join us on Sep 21 at our 3rd annual 3 Club Invitational Regatta.  The day consists of a luncheon at our waterfront so can we get to know each other followed by a reverse handicap race, with prizes for the first 3 finishers as well as class winners.
A NOR is attached. (View NOR) I ask you to pass it along to any interested person. We have facilities for launching trailered boats as well docking for boats coming by sea.
We hope to see many of you there. We request participants to give us notice by email ahead of time so we have an idea of how much food to order for lunch.

COMET FLEET - Art Silcox

Our next racing will be the CRYC Fall series for Comets, Lasers, 420's on September 8, 22 and Oct 6.

We have recently been contacted by the International Comet Class asking CRYC to host the Comet North American Championship Regatta in mid Sept or mid Oct 2020. It is now in the planning stages and we will keep the membership informed of the progress. The North American Championship Regatta was in New Jersey this year and drew close to 20 boats for the 2 day event. I think that we could draw well over 20 in 2020.

The comet fleet seeks individuals who would like to be introduced to small boat racing / comets.  No experience needed.  Patient teacher / Will not yell.

LASER FLEET - Nicholas Place (

KAYAK FLEET - Mike Hollis

The Autumn paddle is scheduled for Sept 14.  We will shuttle to the county launch site near Doc’s and launch kayaks for the 3 mile paddle terminating at CRYC for beer, hotdogs and smores.  This trip will be a little more aggressive than the last.  We will complete a portion after dusk.  Camping at the club is encouraged and participants will have the camping fee waived.  If interested please contact

How to purchase CRYC logo items at Lands' End:

You will need to create your own account and create a library of logos that you can use.  Although there are a few steps involved, it is worth the time setting it all up. When you order an item, you can preview it and adjust the placement of the logo on the garment.

Here's how to get set up:
  1. Log in or or create an account with Lands' End Business (This is separate from regular Lands' End.)
  2. Once you have created an account and/or signed in, use the drop down menu under your name in the upper right corner to click on "Logos".
  3. Click on "Associate a Logo to my Account"
  4. Use Logo #'s: 1150832 and/or 1150825 and Customer #: 7179521
That's all there is to it!  You are ready to order.
