COVID-19 Edition:  COVID-19 has disrupted our lives and routines.  It’s a new day and we will adapt.  With a conscience effort we will all come through this stronger and better than when it began.  When will this end: 15 April? 1 Jun? Sept?  2022?  We don’t know.  When we are told.  Health and safety is everybody’s concern and we go forward with that in mind.  You’ve already heard the standard admonishments– wash your hands, practice social distancing, if you’re sick- stay home, blah, blah, blah…… All of those same guidelines apply to you with regards to the yacht club.  Nuf said.  If you must visit the club grounds (i.e. to check on a boat) please provide your own wipes and hand sanitizer gel.  If you see another member be socially distant (10 ft).
All scheduled events through 31 May are now canceled.  The board conducted a “soft” opening this year.  Water is now turned on, hoses laid out, and most importantly, the new gate combination is now in effect.  Heads will remain closed.
The worst-case scenario we can currently envision is that we will be compelled to cancel the 2020 season altogether, but our intention is to avert that unpleasant prospect if at all possible.
The board will, in consultation with state and local authorities, reassess actions that we might take in May in anticipation of a 1 June opening… but no promises.
As always and now more than ever – be safe.

Regards,
Mike Hollis, Commodore

We currently have 53 paid members.  Outstanding dues payment should be via check to the CRYC, PO Box 24, Centerville, MD 21617.  While still available on the club website, online payments will now have a flat service charge of $10.  Due to COVID-19 we are waiving any late fees thru 31 May.  Understanding that COVID-19 has hit the economy hard, please contact any board member so we can discuss an alternate payment schedule if necessary.  Note that at a minimum, kayak rack renewal ($25) must be paid for by 31 May in order to avoid removal and reissuing to a member on the wait list.

Kayak rack renewals ($25) must be paid for by 31 May in order to avoid removal and reissuing to a member on the wait list.

Planning is complete on the new schoolhouse however we are delaying our order until we review current club income.  We are still planning for a summer arrival (date TBD).  This asset will greatly increase capabilities for both the schoolhouse and race management.  The cost is in the $7,000 range and we are currently seeking donations, large or small, to help defray the club expenditure

Spring rains continue to create boggy conditions in the lower elevations.  Please do not drive past an imaginary line running from the pavilion to the school shed because it is boggy this time of year.  Members will be held responsible for repairing any damage to the grounds.
