Town Election This Saturday (April 1)

The 2017 Annual Town Election will be held Saturday, April 1, 8 am - 8 pm. All-Precincts Meeting April 5

Vision 2020 is sponsoring a meeting for all precincts on Wednesday, April 5, 7-9 pm in the Town Hall auditorium. The event will allow the community to learn about the issues and discuss them with their neighbors and Town Meeting members for their precinct. The evening will start with an overview of the warrant and its development and include presentations by warrant article proponents before the breakout sessions for Town Meeting members and the community.

Town Meeting Begins April 24

A PDF of the warrant for the 2017 Annual Town Meeting is available, though the final wording to be considered for each article is likely to be different and more detailed than what is contained in the warrant. You can find Town Meeting information (soon to include contact info for your precinct's Town Meeting members) at arlingtonma.gov/townmeeting.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted in favor of the Trust Act Resolution that AHRC is co-sponsoring (Article 59). The Town website has a preliminary fact sheet about Sanctuary Towns (download the PDF). However, instead of the initial broad statement declaring Arlington to be a Sanctuary Town, AHRC has put forward more detailed language for a Trust Act Resolution instead. You can download a PDF of the resolution here (scroll down to Article 59).

The Board also unanimously voted in favor of establishing an LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Commission that AHRC is supporting (Article 15). You can download a PDF of the final draft here. Community members and AHRC put together some information regarding the need for an LGBTQIA+ Commission (download the PDF).

Please contact your precinct's Town Meeting members and ask them to vote in favor of the Rainbow Commission (Article 15) and the Trust Act Resolution (Article 59).
