Happy almost-summer, CAA artists and friends!

A big thank-you to all the volunteers who helped put together the Colors of Spring Art Show! I hope you were able to drop by and see the show. We also had our first in-person members meeting as well as an in-person art reception, both at the aRt Cottage. It was so nice to get back to meeting in person!

I hope all of you are doing well and happily creating art these days. At a
time when we seem to be hearing much bad news in the media, be kind to yourself and be sure to combat sad, stressful times by choosing enjoyable daily activities as part of your routine. The arts can be one of those activities that play an immensely important role in helping people cope. Creating art helps artists, showing art helps the viewers, and meeting together helps all of us with support. So let’s help each other by creating, showing, and meeting.

Read more of this newsletter to learn more about CAA plans to meet, create, and sell art. And be sure to check out the details for two upcoming CAA calls for artists: A pop-up show in June and a gallery show in July. Looking forward to your participation!

Follow Us on Instagram! Help Us Make It To 1000 Followers!
We are so close to reaching 1000 followers! We are proud and thankful. To celebrate and thank the artists in our community, CAA is having a drawing and giving away a basket of goodies, including original art, artisan soaps, cards, and more. In order to have a chance to win this basket, check out our IG post @weheartconcordart and then 1) describe us in one word 2) tag an artist friend. Once we reach our thousandth follower we will choose randomly from among those comments and announce the winner. The winner must be local. Thank you in advance!
Summer is around the corner and we are ready to start off our Instagram (IG) Challenges.

Are you overflowing with ideas, but don’t know where to start? Is your creative mind blank? Join our monthly Art Challenge on IG and allow us to provide you with guidelines.
We will give you the prompt and you put your own spin on it. With consistency, you will create a regular habit of making and creating art. These challenges are great for those wanting to start a new medium. It gives you enough incentive to keep going, and you’ll quickly see your skills improving.
CAA is all about community, art challenges create a sense of community. It allows us to work on the same prompt with other artists. We will share our work on IG using the hashtag #CAAartistsca once you click on this hashtag it will give you the opportunity to browse other people’s creations. This is a great way to connect with other artistic souls and network. You can encourage each other, get feedback, and even find some inspiration.
Our first challenge will start the first day of summer, Tuesday June 21st. Be sure to follow Concord Art Association @weheartconcordart and keep an eye out for your first prompt. Get ready to show us your creative work and have some fun!
Concord Utility Box Art Project Phase III
There is still time to create your design and submit your images and story for our upcoming public art project. June 10th is the deadline for submissions. Remember that the entry fee is low this year, but our expectations are high. We want your biggest, boldest, ideas! The theme of "Concord Reflections" allows leeway with your design. We welcome both representational and abstract art.
Due to supply chain issues, as of today the city is unable to provide a schedule or the exact box locations. We will provide an update as soon as we have that information. The upside is that winning artists will paint their amazing art on brand-new clean boxes!
