Two Books We are Loving Right Now

Given all of the uncertainties going on in the world thanks to this pandemic, we thought it best to share books that will keep you energized and moving forward!

Living Forward: A Proven Plan to Stop Drifting and Get the Life You Want by Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavay. This book gives a straightforward, guided route to determining what you want your life to look like, and how to take intentional steps to reach your goals.
Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. Willink and Babin lay out a clear plan to become an excellent leader that people will want to follow. They use lessons they learned during their time as Navy SEALs and illustrate each of their principles with examples from the battlefield.

3 Career Tips
The pandemic has definitely changed how we work and how we live. If you lost your job as a result of the Coronavirus, finding another job is going to be a bit of a new experience for you. Recruiters and hiring authorities, like you, have been forced to change how they interact with people too. So, moving forward in your job search is going to be filled with the requirement to use new tools and technologies to stand out against your competition.

This month we are focusing on 3 LinkedIn tips with a supporting blog article to help you optimize your online professional presence.

Next month we will cover online interviewing and how to make an excellent first impression. We will cover popular tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and others.
Recruiters will do more searching of profiles going forward so you want to put your best foot forward. In most cases, your LinkedIn Profile is your first impression.

Tip 1: LinkedIn profile update. Make sure your profile is visually appealing as well as informative. To make it visually appealing add a background graphic at the top of your profile. Do not keep the generic blue background. You want to stand out from the competition so find a graphic that represents your expertise or industry. Not sure where to find great graphics, go to

Tip 2: LinkedIn profile Features. You may have noticed that LinkedIn has added a new section called Features. LinkedIn places written articles, posts, and graphics there. If you have not contributed those things then create some and post them directly into the Features area. Like Tip 1, you can use Pixabay to find pictures to post in the Features area as well. If you are good at using tools like Canva or Adobe Spark, then you can tailor them by adding wording to the graphics and then posting. I have found the image specification 1080 x 566 seems to work well with the Features section.

Tip 3: LinkedIn profile URL - Personalize it! Tailoring your LinkedIn Profile URL demonstrates you are keeping up with technology. To learn how to change your LinkedIn URL, check out this article.
