Each workshop will consist of a series of Awareness Through Movement© lessons in which participants explore structured sequences of movement which tap into the bodies innate wisdom – it's capacity to self-organise, heal and learn. By accessing the plasticity of the nervous system Feldenkrais lessons make it possible to let go of restrictive habits, to improve physical function and to reduce tension, stiffness and pain. As old habits change a new sense of ease and freedom of movement can be discovered and enjoyed.

In these workshops we will work in a gentle way. The focus is on awareness rather than correction and through awareness physical (and psychological) change can emerge organically and without forcing. For those interested in mindfulness and related practices Awareness Through Movement© lessons can offer another way of being in the present moment in an embodied way.

Movement is often associated with learning special skills of some kind. In Feldenkrais work everyday movement is treated as an art in itself. After all, we inhabit the world by moving through it. By bringing awareness to how we do that – to our own embodiment – we can bring about positive change not only in the way we move but also in the way we experience the world around us.

Walk Your Walk

Our walk speaks volumes of how we embody our relationship to the world. In these workshops we will visit some of the early movement patterns that form the building-blocks of our characteristic upright gait and explore the relationship between how we organise ourselves to walk and the way we interact with what is around us. Bringing awareness to the subtle co-ordinations of feet, knees & hips and their dynamic connection to the spine and the rest of the body this series of lessons will give the possibility of moving more lightly and with a greater sense of ease and stability.
