Did you know?
It's not just for Seniors.
M4A's Medication Assistance Program (SenioRx) is a state funded prescription drug assistance program that helps individuals obtain free or low cost prescription drugs from pharmaceutical companies. SenioRx was established in 2002 and is funded by the State Legislature.

SenioRx is not just for seniors anymore. In fact, SenioRx can help consumers of any age obtain the prescriptions they need to manage their chronic medical conditions. To qualify, an individual must:

Be an Alabama resident and meet one set of the following criteria:

If you are 55+, and
Have a chronical medical condition(s) and
Have no prescription drug insurance, and
Meet certain income limits. OR

If you have a disability at any age
You have been deemed disabled by Social Security, or have applied for disability and are waiting on a decision, or have a doctor’s declaration of disability, or you are in the 24-month Medicare waiting period. OR you have Medicare and have reached your Medicare Part D coverage gap (donut hole).

So many Medicare beneficiaries hit the coverage gap with their Medicare Part D (prescription) plan and are responsible to pay out-of-pocket for their medicine. This is also known as "the donut hole". SenioRx can help Medicare beneficiaries get no cost or low cost medication while they are in the gap.
Since 1963, Older American's Month which is during the month of May, has been a time to celebrate older Americans, their stories, and their contributions. Led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), the annual observance offers a special opportunity to learn about, support, and recognize our nation’s older citizens. This year’s theme, “Age Out Loud,” emphasizes the ways older adults are living their lives with boldness, confidence, and passion while serving as an inspiration to people of all ages.

In an effort to celebrate the "older adults" across our region, M4A is planning Senior Picnic celebrations during the month of May. We will have vendors, lunch, entertainment, and door prizes at each event. You must register to attend so make sure to contact Laura King, Nutrition & Transportation Supervisor at lking@m4a.org or (205) 670-5770. Join us to celebrate Older American's Month and attend one of our picnics!
