As subscribers to our Brockley Natural Wine Club will already know, next week Sunday (4th August) we will be taking a number of customers on an exciting day trip to the UK's leading natural winemaker, Tillingham Wines, and we have a final few tickets remaining.
Tillingham is based on 70 acres of farmland in the East Sussex Village of Peasmarsh. Co-owner & winemaker, Ben Walgate, lives on the farm and will be hosting our tour of the winery. Ben believes in low-intervention winemaking and sustainable farming. His approach brings together modern technological winemaking knowledge, ancient techniques & traditions, and diverse, poly-cultural farming.
Established in 2017, Tillingham’s first wines were released to high acclaim in 2018, and the 2019 releases so far have been highly sought after. So far they have used grapes from English vineyards, but last year they began planting their own vines and will eventually have 10 hectares planted. The remaining farmland will be used for grazing animals, fruit trees and a plant nursery.
