GEORGIA TECH’S 12th ANNUAL LATINO WELCOME CELEBRATION
August 24, 2017
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Student Center Ballroom

 
The Office of Hispanic Initiatives (OHI) hosts the annual Latino Welcome Celebration at the beginning of the fall semester to welcome new and returning Hispanic/Latino students to Georgia Tech. This fun event consists of food, sponsoring corporations and Hispanic student organizations fair, giveaways, raffles, music, etc. The event is expected to be attended by more than 350 students, faculty, and staff.

PROGRAM SNAPSHOT 
At the Challenge Closing Banquet on July 27, Alexander Bustos, one of the participants was recognized with the BP Scholar, Chemistry Top Performer, Computer Science Top Male Performer Awards. “I’m significantly more prepared for fall semester,” Bustos said. “It all comes down to happiness, and I’m a happier person from this experience.” 
For nearly four decades, OMED: Educational Services has offered Challenge, a summer academic preparation program, to help prepare incoming freshmen for a successful college career – academically, professionally, and socially. This summer, the Challenge program welcomed one of its largest cohorts representing 23 different majors to Georgia Tech.

Life for the third annual LGBTQIA Student Welcome Reception! We'll serve refreshments while you get to know your queer peers and learn about LGBTQIA-friendly resources on campus. Representatives from Pride Alliance, Q Chats, the Counseling Center, Health and Well-Being, and Queering STEM will give 2-minute overviews of the services and leadership opportunities that they provide.Join the LGBTQIA Resource Center and Residence
 
This reception is open to all lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, pansexual, intersex, and asexual students, plus allies. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome.
Please be sure to RSVP so we can make sure we have enough snacks and drinks!
The mission of the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion is to provide programmatic and thought leadership, expertise, and advocacy to continue to promote the Institute's diverse student initiatives, programs, and efforts that facilitate our collective goal of student diversity and inclusion.
