Phragmites Crushing
Phragmites crushing, the second phase of treatment, started last week in Powell Slough. Teams will work diligently to crush over 1,600 acres of phragmites, to help speed with decomposition after last year’s aerial spray treatment. Grant funding will all the teams to start into the Provo Bay area as well. They are using 20 ft. wide snow cats retrofitted with a roller-crusher to crush the weeds. Watch our social media accounts for footage of the crushing!
Provo River Delta Restoration Project
This ongoing project is exciting for wildlife AND residents! This awesome video highlights the improvements to the ecosystem and the new recreation opportunities that will be available once the project is completed.
Improved Boating Experience at Lindon Marina
Boaters love to get out on Utah Lake at all hours of the day. When returning to the marinas after dark, beacon lights are needed to guide boats to the marina entrances. Finding one of the five public marina entrances can be challenging without these lights as guides along the 75 mile shoreline.
On Utah Lake, permanent marina inlet lights allow boaters to find and enter the marinas in safety. Lindon Marina, in partnership with the Utah Lake Commission, Utah’s Division of Parks and Recreation Boating  program, Bonneville School of Sailing and the Timpanogos Yacht Club recently installed this great safety feature to make this access point better than ever for sunsets sails and evening boat rides on the lake to see city lights and starry skies that amaze.
