February 2017
Happy New Year from the folks at IDEA4Africa!

2016 was our first full year after being established in 2015. We saw the passing of the torch to our new Country Director who is continuing with the enormous strides already made. We hosted numerous companies, organizations and agencies and planned more than 20 events tackling some of the biggest challenges Rwandan Entrepreneurs face. 3000 people participated in these events and many of our past high school and college students are working with us to teach entrepreneurship to the hundreds of students we work with around the country. We worked with many small ventures running workshops to fill in the skills gap they have to make their businesses successful. And we continued to start entrepreneurship clubs in schools and be the link between new ventures and established entrepreneurs who have proven to be wonderful mentors.

2017 will be focused on two main areas:
  • Professionalizing the teaching of entrepreneurship education in Rwanda as we seek funding to institutionalize these endeavors
  • Scaling our unique approach to teaching and inculcating entrepreneurship and leadership among Rwandan youth mindful  that these activities must ultimately be run and sustained by Rwandans, not outsiders
As we achieve these goals we will be building regional and national entrepreneurship networks that include clubs in schools and regional teacher colloquia, and reinforcing these developments through a central office and national network of teachers and entrepreneurs.

News from our Center in Kigali:

Our Country Director, Pamela, has been working on compiling the GEW2016 Impact Report which is essential for our ongoing efforts to evaluate our programs and gather information about the impacts we are having. Host nations around the world are doing the same analysis and working with the Global Entrepreneurship Network to assess their programs.
Building One Global
Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
As there are more organizations looking to do what we have been doing in Rwanda, Pamela is reaching out to harness the collective power of these groups working in the same, or similar space, looking to impact the lives of Rwandan youth.
