Making a difference in a pandemic
The past year wasn't easy for anyone, but even through a pandemic, Mothers Helping Mothers was able to provide the basic necessities and support to help thousands of families in crisis thanks to supporters and financial contributions from donors like you!

Reflecting back, these challenges created an opportunity to innovate and expand. In 2020 we rose to that challenge.

2020 Highlights:
  • Created online appointments for clients eliminating long waits and crowded lines that will enhance social distancing in our store.
  • Installed PPE throughout the store and, thanks to grant funding, we remodeled the interior to make more space for clients to shop safely.
  • Expanded our baby equipment inventory offerings with enhancements to our "Safe Sleep" and "Safe Ride" programs and now only give away new cribs and car seats in a variety of sizes to keep kids safe from birth through the toddler years.
  • Gave away more than (Click to continue)

Be a Partner for the Planet
Earth Day is April 22nd - Please Join our "Partners for the Planet" fundraising campaign to help us Go Green by March 31st
We're coming off the grid!
Next stop, Solar! We have a goal to eliminate our electrical overhead costs by installing solar panels in honor of Earth Day in April 2021. This project will cost $76,500 but once competed, it will eliminate our largest overhead expense, which means every dollar saved will go directly back into the community through our many services. MHM has received a $40,000 matching grant from the Selby Foundation to help MHM become energy independent, and we need to raise an additional $40,000.

MHM has an additional match thanks to The Louis & Gloria Flanzer Matching Gift Program, through which all donations made monthly, up to $500, will be doubled! You can also pay by check.

OUR GOAL is to raise an additional $18,000 through this match opportunity so be sure to select Mothers Helping Mothers as the recipient and indicate SOLAR in the payment donation memo.
MHM will create a beautiful painted Tree of Life in our lobby to recognize those who give to this campaign to help the children of this generation inherit a sustainable, better planet. This wall will give named recognition to donors and will be a teaching tool for the little ones and their parents on how to help save the planet.
Donors Recognition Levels:
Donations made by end of March 2021 will qualify for naming rights.

Happy Birthday to Mothers!
Yep, in the midst of the pandemic, we turned 30, but since we couldn't throw a party last November, we're celebrating now with you, virtually and all year long, with stories of our journey. So many of you laid the foundation of this incredible story from humble beginnings in a mom's garage to a 7,500 square foot, fully paid for institution of hope for more than one hundred thousand moms and dads and now 3 generations of families since we began. It's been quite a tale and we hope you'll enjoy it.

What's New?
New Evening Appointments
We've added evening hours thanks to some very dedicated volunteers! By appointment only, our doors are now open every second and fourth Thursday evening of the month, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We hope this helps all you working moms and dads. Remember, due to Covid only one person is allowed to help you shop inside the store. Also, we need more help on these nights, which is perfect for high schoolers needing community service hours!

Upcoming Events:
Love, Mom - A Note to Donors
A very merry ending to 2020
Donors helped make this holiday a VERY MERRY one indeed!
ANNUAL TOY DAY - Due to the generosity of so many donors, toys were overflowing in our store, which allowed MHM to offer TWO opportunities for families to get toys. We invited by lottery 200 moms and dads into the store to select their own childrens' toys, but thanks to the overwhelming mountain of toys, we then created our first-ever drive-by pickup for every family that responded to us this season. No child was left behind for our MHM families.

Toy Day by the numbers:
  • $10,000 in donations to help us pay for toys through an online wholesaler
  • 30 businesses held collection boxes on our behalf
  • 65 volunteers played Santa's Helpers to distribute mountains of toys
  • 485 families received gifts for about 1,150 children
  • 85 of those families were personally adopted through our Helping Hands Community Page on Facebook
  • 135 bikes were given away - Kathy Dodge, once again you amaze us with your time and talent working with donors and bringing these to our kids every year ... ASSEMBLED!
Special thanks to our newest Elf, Ebony Mackey, who was put in charge of the event and with her skills and gifts helped make it our largest, most successful (and innovative) Toy Day ever!
Volunteering Brings Joy

Please consider giving a few hours a month

MHM runs 100% on volunteer power and we are in need of helpers. Got computer skills? Consider yourself a sorting expert? Just love to putter in clutter? Have a heart for struggling mothers? Then this is your place!  If you plan to volunteer (either on a regular basis or only once in a while), fill out our volunteer contract HERE and then select the dates that you plan to work.
"Volunteering at Mothers Helping Mothers has brought me so much joy and purpose, It has also deepened my compassion for those less fortunate in our own community. Seeing the faces lighten with relief daily fills my spirit. Giving here gives you back so much more in return. You can see the immediate impact we are making!"

- Cheri DeVries Volunteer & Executive Director MHM
