“All I have to do is dream,” the Everly Brothers once sang. “Dream, dream,” as it were, and, furthermore, “dream.”
Whether or not your dreams of Jeanie (if you have them) are of Barbara Eden in an ornate bottle, or with light brown hair, or, like Don McLean, sans Jeanie are just of castles in the air, know this:
On August 28th 1963, that the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr – civil rights leader and Baptist Minister – delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech at Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.
Thus, our Bonfire @ Desire Open Mic Night theme, 55 years later (to the day), is all about dreams and dreaming. You don’t have to adhere to the theme, but if you want, free-associate around some of the following
Flights of fancy;
Hopes and aspirations;
On the night: show begins 8pm sharp.
Performers: arrive 7:30pm even if you intend to be on in the second half.
Order of performance = order of arrival and registration.
Entry by gold coin donation.
Our next Children’s Story Time takes place Friday 21 September, featuring Sam Bowring reading from and signing copies of his book The Little Bad Wolf.
This is specifically designed for the kids who aren’t at school or kindy, to attend with their mums (or dads/grannies/nannies/au pairs/pops/memaw/governesses/fairy godmothers), with stories, sing-a-longs and some audience participation.
