...weekly bulletin...

February 23, 2023
Dear <<First Name>>,
The Gr. 3-6 Boys School and all the Girls School students attended the Be Brave #EndBullying Hitman game yesterday which was national Pink Shirt Day. A day to focus on kindness, empathy and understanding in an effort to end bullying. The girls used their art class to make posters in preparation. Despite our students cheering loud and dancing to every song, Winnipeg was victorious over the Hitmen 5-3. Guest speakers included Tyler Smith, mental health advocate and motivational speaker, and Haley Daniels, Olympic athlete, pioneer, and advocate.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Checkpoint meetings next week. If you have not signed up yet, please do so as soon as possible. At this point in the school year, we have a good understanding of progress made and areas for further growth. February Progress Reports will be coming home with the boys on Monday. These along with the recent IPP or IDP and Midterm Exam Mark Statements (if applicable) ought provide much to discuss. Please feel free to bring any of these recent documents for further discussion. If you feel the time provided is not enough, feel free to coordinate another time to continue the conversation with the appropriate teacher.

We were fortunate this week to have the team from I Got Mind in the building to work directly with our students on breaking bad habits and forming good ones.

We were also happy that our grade 3 to 6 boys were able to attend the Be Brave Hitmen Game on Wednesday that coincided with Pink Shirt Day and provided us a number of opportunities to reinforce the importance of kindness and acceptance.

We are excited to take the 5/6, 6 and both 7 classes to the Tennis Centre on Friday, March 3.

Tuesday will be Townhall for February and we look forward to looking back at all the great things we accomplished this month.

Passion Project Presentations

Passion Projects are an opportunity for students to research and present on a topic, any topic, that they are passionate about. They will then present their research in a showcase set up at each campus. Richmond students will present on Monday and Currie students will present on Tuesday. Parents and family are welcome to check it out. We are looking forward to seeing what our students are passionate about!

100th Day

Mr. Pettifor’s classes celebrated our 100th day of school year by dressing up as “old people” and experimenting with aging software to see what they would look like many years from now.

Love Your Library!

Thank You for Your Support

The Love Your Library fundraiser has raised $1375! This is hugely impactful and generous of our North Point families and we want to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed. The funds will be carefully spent across all grade levels as we get closer to launching the libraries in September.

There is still one more day to donate before the fundraiser closes tomorrow!
