It’s been a fantastic six months since our Winter newsletter with planning approvals, new projects, new staff and a summer studio trip to Bruges. We’re pleased to share a selection of our highlights below, with links to our website for the full story. As always, we owe a huge thank you to our clients, consultants and collaborators that help us deliver such incredible projects.

Quadrant Arcade wins a New London Architecture Award

We're thrilled that Quadrant Arcade, our project on Regent Street for The Crown Estate, has won a New London Architecture Award!

The judges commented that, "from a design perspective, the arcade is very beautiful" and that it "transformed a somewhat unloved part of Regent Street and created a new link through at the same time", providing "long-term investment in the city."

We were shortlisted for both the Workplace and Wellbeing Prizes for our One Heddon Street project, also with The Crown Estate.

Covent Garden scheme receives planning permission

We are delighted that our Drury Lane project with Savills IM has achieved planning permission.

This heritage-led project, falling in part within the Covent Garden Conservation area, will combine four buildings to provide 23,000 sq ft of flexible retail, restaurant, and gym uses on the ground floor and basement level, with 66,000 sq ft of office space on the upper floors.

Jon elected to the BCO Board of Management

Jon Eaglesham has been elected to the BCO Board of Management. Thank you to everyone who voted!

He is looking forward engaging with the members and contributing his expertise in the field of workplace design to the BCO's ongoing work, promoting the best in class in all areas of influence.

New home for Truman's Brewery

We are really excited to be working with Truman's to design a new brewery destination in Walthamstow. The site will feature a brewery tap room, immersive visitor experience and brewery tours, as well as a street food market, performance space for live music and artist studios for the local creative community.

AJ Retrofit Awards shortlisted

We are thrilled to have been selected as finalists in three categories in the AJ Retrofit Awards:

Listed Building - Quadrant Arcade
Hotel, Retail & Leisure - Quadrant Arcade
Offices - One Heddon Street

Planning for Charing Cross Road development

Our project with RDI REIT, 127 Charing Cross Road, has received planning permission.

We have designed a three-storey extension to the building, increasing the its floor space by 47% and taking it to circa 60,000 sq ft.

30 Cleveland Street completed

We've completed the refurbishment of 30 Cleveland Street, an eight storey Art Deco building in Fitzrovia, to provide characterful office space.

The existing building was enhanced by the addition of rear and rooftop extensions providing increased office space, restoration of the Art Deco facade, premium tenant facilities and CAT A office refurbishment. The finished building provides 38,877sqft of office space over eight floors.

RA Summer Exhibition

Our artwork, Wish You Were Here, envisioning the future of electric transport in five iconic buildings, was included in the RA Summer Exhibition.

We took the whole office on a trip to see our piece and also show new staff the work we did as executive architects on the new extension.

Stop undermining executive architects

Tom Barton, our associate who worked on the Royal Academy, features in BD Online to make the case for executive architects, a role that is too often misunderstood and undervalued in our profession.

Alistair's mews home features in The Modern House

Last month Alistair featured in The Modern House Journal, discussing the transformation of his mews house in Belsize Park into a highly sustainable, light-filled home.

One Heddon Street wins award

One Heddon Street, our flexbile workplace for The Crown Estate, has won a Hubble Office of the Future Award for Health & Wellbeing.

We really enjoyed working with The Crown Estate to ensure that wellbeing was a core part of the design and fit out from day one.

Gemma and Iain swim, cycle and run

We continued our annual participation in the JLL Property Triathlon this June.

Gemma took part in the Property Swim (2.2km of Dorney Lake) and Iain took part in the Duathlon (5km run, 22km cycle, 2.5km run)
