Elmhurst Community Forum: Development Pressures from Aggie Square and Transit Oriented Development Plans
Monday, February 11, 2019, 6:30pm, Masonic Hall, 4647 U St, Sacramento
Doors open at 6pm for refreshments, meeting starts promptly at 6:30pm
What is this about?
Elmhurst has been a predominantly single-family neighborhood since the 1930s. Now this uniqueness of Elmhurst could be impacted by Aggie Square, a large development planned at UC Davis and the City’s transit oriented development (TOD) ordinance calling for higher density housing near light rail stations.
Aggie Square is a project proposed in the area covering 2nd Ave to Broadway and 49th St. to Stockton Blvd. Multi-story buildings and 5000 new employees are proposed as the project is built out over the next 5-10 years.
While the City of Sacramento’s General Plan currently addresses maintaining traditional neighborhoods, this could be affected by TOD plans, state, and local laws.
Councilmember Eric Guerra will attend to hear and address neighborhood concerns about these development pressures and talk about plans for revitalizing Stockton Blvd.
