"As minority communities face the daily stranglehold of racial profiling, and police officers face relentless scrutiny by an anxious public, tensions mount as lines are being drawn in the sand. This conflict can only be broken by finding common ground with each other. L.O.V.E. Is The Answer.

Stories of racial profiling and excessive force by police are everywhere in the news these days. There is a dangerous divide growing between peace officers and the rest of the community."

"I Am Here" Cross Cultural Centers' Fashion Show
Chumash Auditorium

This year the Cross Cultural Center’s I Am Here Fashion Show will showcase multicultural AND queer fashion. Our very own Cal Poly students will be strutting down the runway in outfits that exemplify intersectionality and diversity. Join us for a day of creative expression and celebration!

Dress is semi-formal; there will be food and time for photos.

"Inclusion Starts with Me" Teach In Event
All Day

Stay tuned for the finalized schedule of events!

In addition to workshops, other happenings will occur throughout campus: an art-as-activism feature event will take place in the UU Plaza from 11 a.m. to noon and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen, will provide a keynote address and sign books from 4 to 6 p.m. in Chumash Auditorium.

Other ways to get involved include a book circle featuring Nguyen’s book “The Sympathizer.” Sign-ups are now open on the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology website: https://ctlt.calpoly.edu/book-circles-winter-2018

The CTLT hosts book circles throughout the academic year and during summers. They are open to all Cal Poly faculty and staff. Selected books draw from a broad array of genres and fields.
