Tapping into Life

I just love this time of year - a time to reflect on everything that has transpired in the last year and a time to think about what I really want for the year ahead.  This can be hard to do when you are continually in movement, chasing your schedule and trying to keep up with your "to do" list.  However taking time to do this really can change your life!

I have discovered that just simply thinking, talking or writing about what I want , the changes I would like to see happen, the goals I want to achieve in my life doesn't quite cut it. 

I have come to understand that our automatic response system is what we fall back on to help us navigate life (especially when under the stress of trying to "keep up").  The automatic response system is based on the way we hold our past experiences and the beliefs we have created from our past.  Following me?  We create our future based on how we hold the past in our minds.

If we want to create something new in life, here are a few things that can help:

First, stop for a while each day.  Get off the merry-go-round. Notice what is going on inside.  What are you feeling?  How does your body feel?  What thoughts go with the feelings?  We all spend most of our time navigating and focusing on the outside yet all our power lies inside of us. You can do this while you meditate, journal, walk or even while you are driving to work.  Turn off the radio and listen to what is going on inside instead.

The second suggestion I have would be to write down the changes you want to see this year.  Take a few moments to think about those changes and notice what is going on inside.  Be aware of any resistance, fear or any other negative emotions.  Then address them.  There are many ways to do this - some of my favorite ones are moving through the emotions while meditation, using "The Work" by Byron Katie by questioning the thoughts that come with the resistance and meridian tapping (Faster EFT style) and changing any past memories that have created the limiting beliefs that lie behind the negative emotions.

"Awareness of what is going on inside is key - you cannot change anything without being aware of it first".

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the New Year, the New Month, the New Day!  Each moment is a new one!

Book Corner

I thought I would add in a new section to my newsletter to start the year called the "Book Corner".  I am always in the middle of exploring new ideas and concepts and thought I would share the current book I am reading which is Becoming Supernatural: How Common People Are Doing the Uncommon  by Dr.Joe Dispenza.  I am thoroughly enjoying this book that was published in November 2017 and addresses how to change our brain chemistry to create a new future.  He draws on research in neuroscience, epigenetics and quantum physics to show how to use different forms of meditation to transform the way we currently use our minds.

"Dealing with Stress"
Support & Coaching Drop in Sessions with Lisa Kopil

During these monthly drop-in sessions we will address how stress affects us and different techniques that can be used to let go of stress, change our thinking/beliefs about what is causing the stress and bring more clarity, grounding and health into our daily lives.

Monthly drop in sessions will be held at the Carp Ridge Wellness Center (Leaning Center Building) every 2nd Thursday of the month (10:00 to 11:00am) and every last Wed of the month (7:00 to 8:00pm).

I use this tapping technique to help my clients reduce the stress in their bodies so they can discover the underlying beliefs they have that trigger the reactions , feelings and patterns that they want to change.  We can then work together on changing our perceptions of past experiences that have led to those limiting beliefs.
