Let go of the Stress and Tap into your Life!

Life's Lessons

As I was driving to my weekly meditation group a few weeks ago, my mind was wandering from one subject to another.  It was a beautiful, sunny summer day and there was so much to be grateful for.  As I noticed the trees and nature around me, I thought about the day ahead of me, the music I would be playing later, school finishing and two of my kids graduating from high school and then, out of the blue, in popped a thought about my ex husband - a memory about something that happened long ago in the past.  My mind had just brought up some "wrong doing" of his and as I started to feel the emotions that came along with the  memory - I caught myself!

"Stop", I said to myself.  "Enough of this!"  I had been working with Ho'oponopono (see last month's newsletter) and wondered to myself, when will these thoughts stop spontaneously coming up?   I had been working on clearing my inner beliefs, triggers and my perceptions of my past with my ex husband for quite a few years now.  Frustrated with myself, I wondered, "who could I ask about how to never, ever have a negative thought about my former partner and that part of my life again?"

As the words came up, a light was turned on.  I repeated the phrase to myself:  What if I could never, ever have a negative thought about my former partner ever again?  Was I really willing to agree to never, ever have a negative thought about him or my past with him again?  Was I really ready to give that up?   I felt the reaction in my body, telling me "No way - that would not be safe to do!"

There it was.  I had my answer.  I didn't need to consult anyone because I knew there was a part of me that was still holding on the the old way of looking at my former partner and that old story with caution and a sense of "I am not safe".  And I knew I could find that part, that was inside of me, and let it know that I am actually safe.  I am doing what I love to do.  My kids are safe and on their own journey.  I am with an incredible partner who shares (or at least listens to) my way of seeing the world.  And my former partner is doing the best he can based on his own life experiences.

I took some time during meditation that morning, and again later on my own time, to find that part that didn't want to give up the past, didn't want to forgive, and as I worked on it, using meridian tapping, some inner journey work, some questioning (Byron Katie) and Ho'oponopono, I could feel that resistance melt away.  And now I can say with sincerity and peace that I am willing, I am ready, and am excited to never have a negative thought about him or my past life with him again.  What I am choosing to see is the light and love that is under everything out there.  And that allows me to enjoy the beauty that is around me! (Especially on my drive to the Carp Ridge Wellness Center for my meditation group!)

So if you are having challenges letting go or changing an old limiting belief, ask yourself, "Am I willing to never have that negative thought, feeling, story, belief come up again?"  Notice if any resistance comes up - and there it is!  The way to freeing yourself from the past!

Book Corner

The Miracle: Six Steps to Enlightenment  (2016) by Joe Vitale

Last month, as I was painting the downstairs bedroom, I had the opportunity to listen to a interview by Dawson Church with Joe Vitale.  I knew about Joe Vitale from reading and listening to "The Secret" over 10 years ago but had never really listen to an in depth interview with him - I was impressed and ordered a few of his books from the local library. 

The first one I picked up was "The Miracle" and ended up having to speed read it as the due date had come up and I hadn't gotten into it yet (there was a waiting list for it so no chance to renew).  I am so glad that I took the opportunity to go through it as the later chapters explain much more about Ho'oponopono than I knew.  The funny thing is that I had been drawn to practicing this method over the last while.  The book opened up a whole new way of seeing for me.  I am now onto the next book by Joe called "At Zero" which gives deeper processes and more stories about how Ho'oponopono can help to undo your programming and heal your negative perceptions of the world.

Tips and Tricks for Stress!  For Kids and Teens

When: Tuesday August 28th 2018
            6:00 to 7:00 pm (kids ages 8 - 12)
            7:00 to 8:00 pm (teens ages 13-18)
Location: Constance & Buckham's Community Association, 262  Len Purcell Drive, Constance Bay ON
Fee: Free

Just in in time to help our kids and teens deal with the stresses of going back to school – the stress of exams, public speaking, meeting new friends, dealing with conflict with other students, teacher and even friends. 
We all can use some tools to add to our bag when it comes to helping us cope with stress – and certainly our kids can use all the help they can get. 
Some stress management techniques (including meridian tapping) will be taught along with a kid friendly way of understanding what stress really is.  Empowering kids to let go of the stress and tap into life!

Do you feel emotionally, physically or mentally overwhelmed dealing with all the stress in life?  Would you like to learn a skill to help in stressful situations?  This presentation will show you a new way of understanding what stress is, how it is caused and how to change the way your body responds to it.  A meridian tapping technique will be taught - easy to learn, simple to remember and very effective at changing how your body reacts to stress!

Support & Coaching Drop in Sessions with Lisa Kopil

During these monthly drop-in sessions we will address how stress affects us and different techniques that can be used to let go of stress, change our thinking/beliefs about what is causing the stress and bring more clarity, grounding and health into our daily lives.

Monthly drop in sessions will be held at the Carp Ridge Wellness Center (Leaning Center Building) every 2nd Thursday of the month (9:30 to 10:30am) and every last Wed of the month (7:00 to 8:00pm).
