Let go of the Stress and Tap into your Life!

I try to take some time every day to just stop and turn inward and meditate - and although I sometimes don’t get to my spot on the couch, it really does make a difference in my day.  It can be 5 minutes or 45 minutes, sometimes it is a simple and grounding, other times it really sets the mood for the day or I get an insight that changes the whole way I see something.

What is meditation? For me, it’s really about the practice - practicing being the “observer”.  The “observer” is who we really are, it’s where our highest wisdom lies.   And meditation allows us to practice connecting to that higher wisdom.  When I am the observer, little nuggets of insights, a new point of view, a shift in perceptive can just appear in my mind, in those moments of silence, when I am just listening.

Meditation allows us to turn our focus on our inner world - this is so important because the picture of the world we see and live in can only mirror what is within.  If we feel sadness, we see sadness in the world.  If we feel unsafe and threatened, we see a world that is threatening, that is dangerous.  If we feel angry, what we see in the world angers us.  We often think that what is out there causes us to feel the way we do.  But it always comes back to our perceptions and the meaning we give the world.  

So learning to notice and be aware of what is within (through the practice of meditation) allows us to increase our clarity on what we need to change.  And this is where all our power lies: in our perception of what we see.  This is how we create.  From within. 

Meditation allows us to practice holding our energy in a state that reflects how we really want to feel.  In mediation, our bodies become used to being in this higher state - the more you practice, the more your body’s will automatically settle in that state of being throughout the day.

You don’t need to have an alter, to light a candle (although I do love doing this) or know special techniques to begin practicing meditation.  All you need to do is to stop for a few minutes, and turn your focus within and become aware of what you notice.  This is the first step.  And you really only need to take one step at a time.

Support & Coaching Drop in Sessions with Lisa Kopil

During these monthly drop-in sessions we will address how stress affects us and different techniques that can be used to let go of stress, change our thinking/beliefs about what is causing the stress and bring more clarity, grounding and health into our daily lives.  Come out to share, connect, discuss and get a new perspective or new ideas on how to deal with the stress in your life.

Monthly drop in sessions will be held at the Carp Ridge Wellness Center every 2nd Thursday of the month (10:30 to 11:30am) and every last Wed of the month (7:00 to 8:00pm).

Location: Carp Ridge Ecowellness Center (Main clinic 4596 Carp Road, Carp, ON)
Fee: By Donation

During this free 30 minute session to tapping, you will be introduced to the basic concepts and how it can work for you.
