A few days ago, a friend sent me an invitation to a writing class being given this spring - and a little voice inside my head said: “you should take that class so that maybe you could learn to be a good writer”. So yesterday, as I busied myself with stuff other than writing this newsletter (until I had to hop in the car to do some errands), I decided to “tap” into what was really going on inside of me (the car is one of my favorite places to tap - living in the country, I am usually in the car for at least 30 minutes before I arrive at my destination).
I began by asking myself: what am I feeling when I think about writing? I could feel pressure in my chest and noticed the thoughts “I just don’t know how to write well” and “I don’t know what to say”.
I did a round of tapping (see the video on my website on “How to tap”). I went back to what I was feeling in my body. It changed a bit, even became more intense and the thought “I don’t have anything worthy to say” came up. As I finished my 2nd round of tapping, a memory of being a young child (where “being seen and not heard” was the rule I followed) came to my mind. I also recognized that my parents were teaching me what they had learned, trying to protect me in their own way, wanting me to be a child that would be welcomed everywhere. They did the best they could for me based on their own experiences in life.
More tapping and I felt that old belief that kids do not have anything worthy to say in an adult conversation. Tap, tap, tap. The thought came to me - but I do have something to say, something to share and communicate. And words have the power to do that!
I checked in with my body again and thought of writing. I noticed a feeling of fear in my throat - and the idea "I am going to say the wrong thing or I will say (write) it in the wrong way". More tapping (note: I always go to my happy/peace place after tapping on the meridian points - see the video on my website for full details on “How to tap”).
I considered this again after tapping and reasoned to myself: "but how can I say it wrong? It is what I want to say. So can I really do it wrong? The only wrong way is to not say (write) the thoughts I want to share."
I went back to check on the feeling and there was a tiny bit of something left - and it was saying that nobody will be interested in what you have to say and they will be annoyed. More tapping, on the feeling in my body, on the words: they won’t be interested, they will be annoyed, I am annoyed at myself. As I tapped it down, I reflected that nobody HAS to read what I write, if they are annoyed and keep reading, that is not my problem. All I have to do is say/write what is important to me, share my thoughts. Period. And then I I found myself looking forward to getting back home to write this newsletter.

My clients, friends and even family have found many nuggets of insight into the emotional aspect of their problems. The descriptions are detailed and always end with a specific affirmation that can be used to help.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the thoughts, feelings and emotions at the root of illness or dis-ease. This book is always within my reach!

You will learn a new way of understanding what stress is, how it is caused and how to change the way your body respond to it (or any other negative emotions). A meridian tapping technique (the same meridian system that is used in acupuncture and acupressure) will be taught – easy, quick and very efficient at changing how your body react to stress!

This workshop will focus on how stress and emotions affect our physical, emotional and mental health. We will discuss the different types of stress and learn new ways of understanding how we can change the ways our bodies respond to stress or any other negative emotions that keep us stuck in unhappy and unhealthy patterns. Techniques and tools (including meridian tapping) will be taught.
The 2nd part of the workshop will deal specifically with emotional eating and emotional attachments to foods and way to change this relationship.

During these monthly drop-in sessions we will address how stress affects us and different techniques that can be used to let go of stress, change our thinking/beliefs about what is causing the stress and bring more clarity, grounding and health into our daily lives.
Monthly drop in sessions will be held at the Carp Ridge Wellness Center (Leaning Center Building) every 2nd Thursday of the month (9:30 to 10:30am) and every last Wed of the month (7:00 to 8:00pm).
