This month I have been busy listening to the 10th annual Tapping Summit that is organized by Nick Ortner from the Tapping Solution.  I have been tapping along with many of the different presenters on a variety of subjects which have given perspective and insights into the mind/body connection as well as learning more about how our brains do what they do.  The tapping style most used in the summit context is classic EFT which is a little different from the tapping I do (Eutaptics style). 

One of the differences is what is called the "Set Up statement" which is used while tapping on the side of your hand (the Karate Chop point) .  The basic statement is: 

Even though  (____ fill in with your problem ___), I deeply and completely accept myself. 

Examples would be, "Even though I am angry at _______ because _______, I deeply and completely accept myself", or "Even though I am stressed out about ________, I deeply and completely accept myself". 

I find this statement it to be very grounding, providing a safe, calm start when tapping to bring down the level of stress or to when beginning to work at a deeper level .

While tapping along to different presentations in the tapping summit and doing a bit more digging on "set up EFT statements", I came across a few more alternatives that can be very beneficial, either before starting a deeper tapping session or used simply on their own.  These set up statements help us feel empowered, putting the us back in control of our experience and teach us to embrace and accept who we are - giving love and compassion for our feelings, our situation and our past. 

Here are some examples of ways you can use "set up" statements (to be said while tapping on the side of the hand - the Karate Chop point, repeating at least 3 times):

- Even though ( __________________), I choose to appreciate or forgive myself.
- Even though (___________________), I know that in every moment I do the best that I can do.
- Even though (___________________), I choose to feel peaceful and calm now.
- Even though (___________________), I choose to be open to wisdom and insight.
- Even though (___________________), I am willing to relax now.
- Even though (___________________), I am willing to see this in a better way.


It can be a challenge to accept ourselves as we are, but I would like to quote Carl Rogers who stated:  "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am, then I can change".  Acceptance is not passive but is a doorway through which change can happen!

I read this wonderful book 10 yeas ago after a good friend (thank you Jenn) recommended it - and after reading it my view on death and dying were forever changed. I have spoke about it countless times and and happy to say I finally have my own copy in my library. 

Dr. Michael Newton came across a technique that allowed his clients to access their memories of their life before physical life. This book documents 29 different accounts of what happens in that space - and what he discovered was that so many different types of people showed remarkable consistency in describing their experience even using the same words and graphic description. If you are curious or have fears about what goes on after this physical life, this may provide some insight or peace around the subject!

"Dealing with Stress"

Support & Coaching Drop in Sessions with Lisa Kopil

During these monthly drop-in sessions we will address how stress affects us and different techniques that can be used to let go of stress, change our thinking/beliefs about what is causing the stress and bring more clarity, grounding and health into our daily lives.

Monthly drop in sessions will be held at the Carp Ridge Wellness Center (Leaning Center Building) every 2nd Thursday of the month (9:30 to 10:30am) and every last Wed of the month (7:00 to 8:00pm).

Introduction to Meridian Tapping

During this free 30 minute session to tapping, you will be introduced to the basic concepts and how it can work for you.

Eutaptics or Faster EFT is a modality that combines meridian tapping (based in the Chinese meridian system used in acupressure/acupuncture) with concepts from other modalities especially NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).  Faster EFT addresses the mind/body connection in a way that gives you control of your thoughts and emotions.  It works with your subconscious mind, working with the body to reduce stress and releasing physical and emotional symptoms.

I use this tapping technique to help my clients reduce the stress in their bodies so they can discover the underlying beliefs they have that trigger the reactions , feelings and patterns that they want to change.  We can then work together on changing the perceptions of past experiences that have led to those limiting beliefs.
