Business Spotlight of the Month

Mangrove Restoration
4268 Manchester Ave | St. Louis, MO 63110

For this month’s newsletter, we feature Mangrove Restoration and a few of their commercial tenants who currently call some of Mangrove’s restored buildings home.

For 17 years, Mangrove has been restoring historic buildings in the city of St. Louis for both commercial and residential use. The company started in 2000 with the purchase and historic restoration of the Mangrove building at the corner of Manchester and Tower Grove Avenue. Over the years, the community saw the good work that the company was doing to support a diverse range of businesses in the neighborhood. Through word-of-mouth and relationship building the company was able to build a good reputation. Now, in 2017 Mangrove has taken on a number of additional projects that have helped maintain a vibrant neighborhood for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

Building and maintaining relationships within the community is at the heart of Mangrove’s mission. The Forest Park South Business Association appreciates the Mangrove Restoration for being a member of the business association, and for being a great member of the Forest Park South community! See the before and after pictures of a few of Mangrove's buildings below.
The Mangrove Building | 4254 Manchester Ave
The Mangrove building was the first  project that Mangrove Restoration completed. The building was converted into a café and ice cream parlor in 2004 before Sweetie Pie's expanded to the area. Located on the corner of Tower Grove Ave and Manchester Ave, the building is right at the center of all the action happening in The Grove.
Outlaw Ink & Styles | 4254 Manchester Ave
The Melroys building is now home to Outlaw Ink & Styles tattoo shop, owned by freehand tattoo artist Eric Outlaw. The shop is one of two tattoo shops in The Grove. They offer services in tattoos, novelties, and accessories.
CQ Custom Designs | 4248 Manchester Ave
About four months ago, St. Louis graphic designer and entrepreneur Calvin Payne was able to move his start up t-shirt business to the newly restored building located at 4248 Manchester Ave, thanks to the support of Mangrove Restoration. CQ Custom Designs specializes in screen printing, uniforms, rhinestone designs, and much more. Payne started the business with $2, working from home before selling his products at the Outlaw Ink & Tattoo Shop. Now located next door to the tattoo shop, Payne has been able to expand his services to the neighborhood.
City Greens Market | 4260 Manchester Ave
City Greens is a local non-profit grocery store that supports food sustainability. None of the food supplied at the store is produced at factory farms, and many of Missouri's local farms sell exclusively to them. Their mission is to provide access to good healthy food at an affordable price. City Greens sell all their products at-cost and are able to do so through a sliding scale membership program based on household income. If you are not yet a member of this great neighborhood market, consider joining today at www.stlcitygreens.org. City Greens Market is also a great member of the business association!
