At last the heat has broken. It was great to see so many of our members utilising the air conditioning electricity subsidy over summer. If you need help applying for Government funding or completion of an application, please do not hesitate to contact CFQ Services.

We will be holding the inaugural CFQ Forum and Expo 22 April prior to the AGM. It is envisaged that this will become an annual FREE member event; an opportunity for you all to hear from some of the leading Queensland Cystic Fibrosis health practitioners. Save the date and be sure to attend.

May will be a buzz with community engagement activities across the state for the annual
65 Roses Awareness Campaign – CFQ is actively recruiting volunteers to help us with our advocacy and fund raising. Keen to be involved? There are plenty of options. You can be part of the 65 Roses Read-a-thon being held by the bookshop, sell roses at shopping centres or participate in one of the 65 Challenges. Contact Fundraising and get involved today.

Our Patron, Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, and Mrs Kaye de Jersey, will be hosting a morning tea for CFQ at Government House as part of
65 Roses Month of May and we would like for CFQ Members to join us. All CFQ Members will be sent an invitation.

Kind Regards
Petrina Fraccaro
CEO Cystic Fibrosis Queensland

We are keen to support Sunshine Coast families who are interested in meeting other families. Please contact CFQ Services  if you would like to be involved.

CFQ MEMBER SUPPORT PROGRAMS
Based on feedback from our CFQ Members, we have been meeting with expert providers to negotiate reduced rates on services such as career counselling, education and training, financial planning, investment advice and wills and estate planning.

All Australians are encouraged to get a flu shot in the lead up to winter, but vaccination is particularly important for those in the high risk categories, such as those who are living with cystic fibrosis.

The Influenza vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) will be available from April 2017 and is free for anyone with chronic respiratory conditions, including cystic fibrosis.

CFQ COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING

65 ROSES AWARENESS MONTH OF MAY

65 Roses has been the theme for this life-shortening illness since 1968 when a four-year-old boy misheard his mother's pronunciation of cystic fibrosis as ‘65 Roses’. The theme stuck and since then millions of dollars have been raised globally.

Host or participate in a fundraising event themed around the number '65' through the month of May to help us raise awareness of the challenges those living with cystic fibrosis face every day. By taking the 65 Roses Challenge you will help us raise money for vital services and programs that help to extend the lives of Queenslanders living with cystic fibrosis.

Become a 65 Roses Volunteer!  Help us raise funds and awareness by volunteering for one of many community events throughout May.  Volunteer roles are available across South East Queensland, including:

  • Merchandise Sales

  • Donation Collection

  • Event Support

  • Assisting Bookshop operations

Registrations open April 2017

GRANT NEWS

Thank you to the Zig Zag Foundation for the recent support for our Physical Subsidy Program (PAS). This valuable service to our CFQ Members remains one of our most popular and it can only continue as long as organisations like Zig Zag fund it. As part of our grant agreement, we must provide photos of the PAS use, so if you apply for a PAS and it is funded through Zig Zag – please remember to send us a photo of your chosen physical activity. The photo may be used for social media purposes so we will need your consent to use it – we would never use a photo which you have not consented to and we will never use names with the photos.
CFQ CORPORATE EVENTS

Join our Charity Event Network and watch your business grow or simply have fun supporting a great cause!

Our organisation receives less than 13% of our revenue from Government. We rely heavily on the development of corporate partnerships, community fundraising and grants. Our events not only leverage great marketing returns for your business and provide strong community experiences, but also corporate networking.

Each Cystic Fibrosis Queensland event reaches a different key audience and provides a fun, entertaining and engaging way for you to “wow” clients, vendors and employees.

Feel good about supporting a worthy cause and purchase one of our event packages, or simply book individual tickets or tables. Even better still, invest in an event
sponsorship package.
