I hope you all had a safe and happy Christmas and festive New Year.

The CFQ Team is busy making plans to ensure we increase services to members – be sure to have your say and join one of our Advisory Committees. We have one committee which will focus on CF adults and a second committee for the parents of children living with CF. Committee attendance and participation doesn’t have to be in person, you can dial in to join the conversation. If you would like to know more about participation email Anne Li our Services Manager services@cfqld.org.au and register your interest.

CFQ has relocated to Toowong. Our location is easily accessible by bus, train and ferry with a free onsite car park. Some of our members have already been to visit us to borrow equipment and to access social services. Our Patron, Queensland Governor Paul de Jersey will be our guest of honour at the official office opening Friday, 10 February 2017.  We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at this event.

Following the CFQ office opening will be our inaugural CFQ Advisory Committee meeting for parents of children with CF.

I look forward to seeing you all at the opening,

Kind Regards
Petrina Fraccaro
CEO Cystic Fibrosis Queensland

JOIN THE FIGHT TO BREATHE

Last November, CFQ had 10 passionate athletes participate in the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival fundraising on our behalf. Over $17 000 was raised collectively, assisting CFQ to deliver services and support to our CFQ members.

We are excited to announce that in 2017 we will be participating in the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival as Bronze Charity Partner.

This means we are seeking 25 CFQ Heroes to race Noosa Triathlon for CFQ – raising funds and awareness.

AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS

Australia Day is rather special for CFQ this year as we have a Bookshop Volunteer, Pam Dent, being honoured with a Lilley Australia Day Award for her 15 years of service to our CFQ community. The ceremony is being hosted by  the Hon. Wayne Swan, Federal Member for Lilley.

The Nundah Bookshop will celebrate all things Australian Tuesday, 24 January. Join in and chuck a thong the furthest, complete the Australian city naming competition, find an Aussie Author and share an aussie plate.

Our orders have closed for our Australia Day Lamington Drive, but don’t worry if you missed out this time, we will be holding an Easter Hot Cross Bun drive in March!

ARE YOU A DIVA OR TENOR – OR PERHAPS SIMPLY A SHOWER SINGING LEGEND?

Our “Singers for CF” have commenced their Monday morning rehearsals. Our first singing event will be a Mother’s Day morning tea at the bookshop.  We would love to hear from interested singers , because Life is a Song and you should Sing It!
