How long does it take you to truly take your mind out of the classroom and enjoy the holidays? Instructors, especially online instructors, have mentioned that it feels strange not having to check email or mark something between semesters. Well, just do it, job well done now enjoy the season. Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)
Dates: January 11, 12, 26 and February 9, 2019
Facilitator: Michelle Johnson
Location: UFV, Abbotsford Campus – Rm G124
The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is offered to a group of four to six colleagues and is designed to enhance the teaching effectiveness of both new and experienced educators. During the 3 ½ day workshop, participants design and conduct three “mini-lessons” and receive verbal, written and video feedback from the other participants who have been learners in the mini-lessons.

Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW)

Location: UFV Abbotsford Campus, Rm to be confirmed.
The Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) is designed primarily for individuals who will be conducting the ISW at an institution. It is recommended that individuals participate in an ISW prior to applying for the FDW. The FDW provides individuals with an opportunity for professional development in a challenging and supportive atmosphere and provides connections to a larger instructional development network.

myClass Inline Grading (Box View) will be available for Winter 2019 term:
Blackboard inline grading allows instructors to annotate and grade student assignment files directly within the browser. Student file submissions are stored on Blackboard Learn servers in Canada. However, the inline viewer is powered by a third-party, cloud-based technology called Box View whose servers are outside of Canada. Box View makes a copy of the assignment submission when grading. The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is committed to the fundamental values of preserving academic integrity as defined in UFV policies. As an instructor, if you intend to use Box View, students are required to sign and submit to you the consent form, Notification for Disclosure of Personal Information Outside of Canada, prior to using the Box View grading tool.
You can download the consent form and add it as a digital document to your course. Students would print, sign and submit the form. Or, Teaching and Learning can assist you by creating a web link within your course for electronic submission. You can request it through the firstname.lastname@example.org.
