Message from Bishop and Cabinet on Rising Numbers of COVID-19 Cases in Our Region
Here is what the Global Epidemics web site referenced in the Bishop and Cabinet’s message indicates as risk level for counties in our South East District as of July 9:
Baldwin, Lincoln, Putnam, Richmond, Wilkes
Columbia, Elbert, Hancock, McDuffie, Morgan, Warren
Greene, Oglethorpe
Note from Greg & Beth: Please take your context into consideration with your congregation’s health and safety of utmost concern as you and your leadership team make decisions about worshiping in person.  We have reports from several congregations that COVID positive people attended in-person worship services in the last couple of weeks.  We cannot emphasize enough that following safe practices is crucial and that singing is extremely problematic.

NGUMC Clergy Email
Clergy are strongly encouraged to check their email addresses directly through Gmail. However, some clergy prefer to forward their address to another account. Pastors who moved July 1 and forward their email should be sure to update the forwarding account. Access to your email is important for receiving district and conference communication as well as virtual Annual Conference credentials.
Contact for assistance.

Murphy-Harpst Offering July 19th
Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson has set July 19th as the Special Offering Sunday for Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers. This is a significant day at the beginning of each fiscal year when individuals and churches unite with prayer and support for the vulnerable youth Murphy-Harpst serves. Nearly 1/3 of the Children’s Center’s total financial support comes from United Methodist Churches! Even though many congregations are not meeting in person for worship, Murphy-Harpst has provided an entire suite of easy-to-use digital resources for virtual services

Crowd Sourcing…

Have any South East District churches, especially in the Augusta area, done steeple repair & painting, and/or fascia & soffit repair & painting recently?  If you have a positive reference, please contact Rev. Scott Parrish:

From the Benefits Office

Greetings from the Benefits Office as we begin a new year of appointments while also dealing with the effects of COVID19. Since the Conference Office is still maintaining social distancing protocols and working from home most days, we wanted to provide the churches and clergy with additional resources online.
In the Benefits Office, we get many phone calls and emails with questions about benefits. In order to make it easier for you all to find answers to benefits related questions, we’ve created a FAQ found here.
Also, we have specific pages for the following:
As always, we are here for any questions that are not covered that you may have while we are working from home. You can reach us at or
We hope you are all staying well!

Thank you,
