IALF Remembers
Porter Martin
   Porter Martin passed away Monday, December 5, 2022. Porter served on the IALF Board of Directors for over 2 decades, offering his leadership abilities as the IALF Board Treasurer and a member of the IALF Board of Directors Executive Committee. 
    Porter was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his love for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He spent most of his career in realty, and was one of the founders of Martin, Goodrich, & Associates, which focused on the acquisition and sale of farm and ranch land. He was designated Land Realtor of America by the Realtors Land Institute of the National Association of Realtors. He also helped establish Kishwaukee Community College and Shabbona Lake State Park, both in DeKalb County. 

   Porter leaves a legacy of kindness and service and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Sherry, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, brother, and many nieces and nephews. Meet the IALP Class of 2023


Alycen (Aly) White, Princeton, is the Field Sales Trainee & Intern Lead at Bayer Crop Science where she works to recruit and develop future talent for the organization. Aly has spent most of her career thus far as a Field Sales Representative, supporting DEKALB & Asgrow dealers across four counties in Northern Illinois. She currently serves as the US Communications Co-Lead for Bayer’s Business Resource Group, GROW, which focuses on Growing Representation and Opportunities for Women. Aly attended the University of Illinois where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Consumer Economics and spent time studying abroad in both China and the Netherlands.

Kellogg Business Decision Making Seminar
The IALP Class of 2023 Business-Decision Making Seminar at Northwestern University was held Sunday, November 20 through Tuesday, November 22nd . Throughout this seminar, participants will discover the intersection of leadership and business at a deeper level, learn skills and approaches to fiscal oversight and strategic management, and improve upon leadership skills through collaboration, ethics, and innovation  The class heard from professors discussing collaboration and diversity within the workplace on Sunday afternoon. Professor Schonthal discussed new venture discovery, and Professor Kteily discussed understanding and overcoming our perceptual biases along with some break-out exercises during both sessions.
Dr. Josie Rudolphi from the University of Illinois to discuss mental health and how we can help those we see in rural areas.
Tuesday morning Professor Peterson took a look at risk management with the class.  The class is in the last section of their two years with the program. They are looking forward to the Farm Credit Innovation and Change Seminar on December 15th-16th in Chicago.
