Dear Families,

If you are new to Woodside, Welcome!  If you are familiar with Woodside, then welcome back!

MSAD 75 have received the feedback that parents and families overwhelmingly prefer to receive invitations to be involved in the school and important information about the school by email.  So, normally, you can expect a somewhat brighter format from me that will include photos, a calendar peek at the upcoming weeks, and other useful school ​information.  But here at the beginning of the school year we are still verifying enrollments, adding email addresses to our system, and making sure that we have everyone on-board, so just a boring old text email tonight! 

(We know for example, that there may be some families who do not receive this email because of an out-of-date address, or other information that may need to be verified in the first weeks of school...so do your neighborly part, and share with your friends!)

Here then, is just a little bit of information to share as we get started.

School starts tomorrow:  Tuesday, 9/4/18.  Normal drop off time is between 8:45 and 8:50 a.m.  Wednesdays are “late starts” and drop off is one hour later between 9:45-9:50. Unless otherwise communicated, every Wednesday is a “late start” day.

We have supervision in the Woodside lobby starting at 8:45. At 8:50 students are released from the lobby to class (there will be plenty of helpers to make sure that new students remember where to go.)🙂. Thank you for reminding your child that we require students to practice respect and use a quiet voice (whisper) if they are waiting in the lobby before school.

A special tradition at Woodside (on the first day only) is that parents may also walk their child down to class.   

At 9:00 on the first day we make a special invitation to “new to Woodside” families who would like to join us for some Frosty’s Donuts and Coffee in the cafeteria.  We call this the “Boo-Hoo, Ya-Hoo!” Breakfast.  (We also have Kleenex on hand in case you are having the tough of the first day blues.)😢. We also love to have a few experienced parents in the cafeteria to help get to know the community, and to build some positive outside of school social connections. 

Finally, we know that there can be a lot of excitement and nervous feelings surrounding the start of the school year.  We ask that everyone help start the year on the right foot by getting to bed nice and early, having a good breakfast, and remembering that even the teachers feel a little nervous on the first day; but together, we will all work to have a safe, responsible, and respectful school year.
