"Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation, must begin by subduing the freedom of speech" - Benjamin Franklin

New Look, New Year for the Messenger

We think it is appropriate to begin 2019, with a change of the Jefferson Messenger masthead, replacing it with an artist's rendering of the printing press similar or actually that was used in the 1720's by Ben Franklin. We have also included Franklin's quote about Freedom of Speech that was later guaranteed in the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The Messenger is just one of the tools used by SOJ to spread the truth about issues and legislation by a progressive/liberal faction that threatens our liberties and the erosion of the Constitution. More often than not, the good news and facts are not reported by the media. More and more, conservative views and truths are suppressed by those who control the internet and social media. Suppression of speech has been most evident on college campuses with attacks mostly against conservative voices.

I am sure Ben Franklin and our fore-

fathers would be shocked to find that 300 years later, Freedom of Speech would be threatened and that some of the press would boldly state, “Our job is to control what people think.”.........Mika Brezinski, MSNBC

The Messenger is the voice of Jefferson as are our radio broadcasts and county newsletters. All offer state and national news and information about Jefferson and Citizens for Fair Representation, along with county events and meetings. It is the responsibility of all to encourage those within your counties to subscribe to the Messenger, tune into the radio show and participate in the bi-monthly conference calls. Knowledge and truth are our weapons for the Jefferson movement, representation, protection of our U.S. Constitution and our liberties. We all must be the Town Criers, like those who stood on the street corners of Philadelphia during our country's founding.

New Feature – Meet The County

We would like to feature news from the 23 counties, and in the next issue we will begin publishing articles about a particular issue/concern that is occurring in your county. Therefore, we ask those from the county committees to submit articles. We have already reached out to Stanislaus County to file a report regarding their effort to fight Sanctuary State jurisdiction. We also encourage counties' committees to let us know the importance of Jefferson to those in your communities.

Each issue of the Messenger  will

feature one county reporting on what can include a myriad of issues: County Board of Supervisors, other elected representatives, water and forests, Sanctuary State, etc. Articles may be emailed to Terry Gherardi, or Penny Garland, Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions. We feel this new feature will expand the com-munication and support between the 23 Counties of Jefferson.

A Win For Judicial Watch & California Voters

Last week, Judicial Watch announced that it signed a settlement with the State of California and County of Los Angeles under which they will begin the process of removing from their voter registration rolls as many as 1.5 million inactive registered names that may be invalid. Judicial Watch was also joined by Election Integrity Project California, Inc., a public interest group that has long been involved in monitoring California's voter rolls.

In the lawsuit, Judicial Watch alleged:

(1) Los Angeles County has more voter registrations on its voter rolls than it has citizens who are old enough to register. Specifically, according to data provided to and published by the U.S. Election

Assistance Commission, Los Angeles County has a registration rate of 112 percent of its adult citizen population.

(2) The entire State of California has a registration rate of about 101 percent of its age-eligible citizenry.

(3) Eleven of California's 58 counties have registration rates exceeding 1000 percent of the age-eligible citizenry.

Judicial Watch further noted that one of every five LA County registrations likely belongs to a voter who has moved or is deceased and “Los Angeles County has the highest number of inactive registrations of any single county in the nation.”

California Does Not Know if Illegals Voted

California officials are still unable to say whether or not illegal immigrants voted in the June 2018 Primary because a government questionnaire about eligibility was created in a way that prevents a direct answer on citizenship. In an internal memo of October 8, 2018, the Secretary of State's Office wrote, “We can't assume why they declined to answer eligibility questions or why they said they were not eligible.”

After the Sacramento Bee filed a legal complaint, through the Public Records Act, emails and other documents, shows that for months California officials have been examining whether non citizens voted last year. Last week, Secretary of State, Alex Padilla, confirmed for the first time that his office has an active internal investigation into the matter.

The Bee also reported that Republicans are responding to the

continued problems with the Motor Voter program calling for sweeping changes. Senate Minority Leader Patricia Bates, R-Laguna Niguel, introduced a bill last month that would adopt an opt in voting process and do away with automatic registration of customers.

Since the DMV started automatically registering people to vote on April 23, 2018, it has acknowledged making 105,000 processing errors out of more than 2.4 million transactions. It should also be noted that during the November 2018 general election, voter precinct workers in many counties reported a large increase in voters needing provisional ballots. In many instances it was found that of those who had registered through DMV, their registration forms never reached county registrars of voters.
