"Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation, must begin by subduing the freedom of speech" - Benjamin Franklin

Important Announcement

Time Change for Constitutional Carry Rally

The time for the rally and hearing for Mark Baird's Open Carry case against Attorney General Becerra has been changed to later in the morning at 11 AM. The date is still Friday, September 6, at the Robert Matsui Courthouse, 901 I Street in Sacramento.

The later hour will allow the many who will be traveling a long distance to get on the road a little later.

Jeffersonians will be there at 9 AM to set up the sound system, etc. Please remember to wear your holsters packed with your pocket Constitution. In the meantime, please circulate fliers, send out emails and post on social media. Let's make sure there is a great turnout to support Mark Baird and the 2nd Amendment.

Sanctuary for Firearms

This week, I heard from my contact in Illinois. He sent me some more information about theirs and other state efforts of counties that have successfully had resolutions adopted, declaring their counties a sanctuary for firearms. He also sent me two websites to check that had additional information about the same efforts in other states. It also contains information showing Sheriffs and their associations standing up for the 2nd amendment and opposing gun control efforts under the Obama Administration. This is on the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association website.

As you know, Mark Baird has undertaken this effort. He and Sierra County Supervisor Jim Beard drafted a Resolution hoping Jefferson County Committees will reach out to their county supervisors to place a resolution on their board agendas for approval. Jim Beard did so but unfortunately was not able to get the 3-2 vote he had hoped for. Mark went ahead to get the ball rolling in Siskiyou County only to learn that this had already been accomplished some years ago.

I am mentioning this because when I

reviewed the CSPOA web site, I found that in 2013, thirteen California Sheriffs and their counties along with other states' county sheriffs took a stand and vowed to “uphold and defend the Constitution against Obama's unlawful gun measures.”

California counties included: El Dorado, Shasta, Siskiyou, Stanislaus, Tehama, Lassen, Del Norte, Modoc, Mendocino, Humboldt, Plumas, Trinity and Fresno. I am suggesting that if you live in one of these counties, you might want to contact your Sheriff or Clerk of the Board to see if there is any resolution or other document on file that might have declared the same or similar as the current sanctuary resolution. Recently, Needles, CA, has adopted the Sanctuary for Firearms Resolution.

I do have a call in to my El Dorado County Sheriff, John D'Agostini, who was Sheriff at the time.

The other website that offers a lot of great information and updates about sanctuary counties is Gun Rights Watch. If you would like a copy of Mark's and Jim's resolution, please contact Mark Baird or Terry Rapoza.

Law Enforcement Officers Get Handcuffed

The flamboyant Governor of California, Gavin Newom, signed into law a new bill, AB-392, that will have stricter standards over law enforcement with the use of deadly force.

Right now, deadly force is justified if a reasonable officer would have acted similarly in that situation. So in other words, what a typical officer would have done based on his or her training,” said Ben Adler of Capital Public Radio. “When the law takes effect in January, that standard will change to when the officer reasonably believes deadly force is necessary."

However, the definition of being necessary is not specific in the new bill. So this means it will be interpreted in California's courts to actually determine what the meaning is for the rest of the country.

Newsom gloatingly stated as he signed the bill last Monday in

Sacramento, “I’m ready to sign this damn thing.” Also saying, "As California goes, so goes the rest of the United States of America," Newsom added, according to The Hill, "And we are doing something today that stretches the boundaries of possibility and sends a message to people all across this country, that they can do more."

The State of Jefferson and the Second Amendment are more important now than ever since our great country was liberated from England. Support the Walk4Liberty campaign, the CFR lawsuit for Jefferson and the Second Amendment lawsuit against the State of California for all. Show up and be counted. Make your line in the sand the size of the Grand Canyon.

The time has come for fifty-one.
