Hi <<First Name>>,

Last night, we received a response from Dr. Gilberto Zelaya, or Dr. Z., of the Montgomery County Board of Elections regarding our questions about the status of mail-in ballots. That message is below. For information on some of the terms below, you can check out this video from the Maryland State Board of Elections.

From Dr. Z:
Rest assured your mail-in ballot designated as “received” will be flipped to “accepted” once ballot is canvassed, scanned and recorded as processed.

Currently we have the following numbers:
  • 377,285 mailed ballots by SBE
  • 252,000+ ballots in “received” status
  • 160,000+ canvassed
  • 80,000+ ballots scanned
  • 40,000+ records flipped from “received” to “accepted”
Please note our bandwidth is currently maxed out as we carry out early voting, coordinate Election Day vote center deliverables, process mail-in ballot, canvass, and research submitted Provisional ballots during early voting.

In summary, your patience is greatly appreciated…

Stay safe & blessed.
Dr. Z
