Hi <<First Name>>,

The situation with COVID-19 is accelerating locally. Earlier today, Gov. Hogan confirmed the first case of COVID-19 community transmission in Maryland. This means that someone has contracted the disease from community contact, not due to contact during travels abroad.

As the days go by, it is increasingly apparent that it is simply irresponsible to bring together large groups. Especially for activities such as ours, which are important but wholly voluntary. As a result, the Indivisible Montgomery meeting on Mar. 21 is canceled.

Additionally, we and our partners in the county have canceled all letter-writing events and all letter-writing activity is now suspended. However, we are developing ways for everyone to stay active in our get-out-the-vote efforts despite the reduction of in-person events. This message will come out in the next few days. And now that our meeting on Mar. 21 has been canceled, we hope you will use that time to try out these GOTV efforts.

Resources
As always, it is important to remain informed and to get information from reputable sources. The Washington Post has an extensive resource on coronavirus, including a helpful story on how to self-quarantine should you need it, coronavirus in the DMV, and what your health care plan might cover should you fall ill.

The CDC, the National Institutes of Health, the World Health Organization and our local and state health officials are trustworthy, and I recommend you check their websites whenever you have concerns or questions. The White House is not a trustworthy source of information.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay informed.

All best,

Chris Pickett
