Election season has ended

Forward Forward
The polls in Maryland closed an hour ago and our last phone banks are now shutting down. All that is left is to count the votes from this exciting day and this eventful election season.

I want to take this time to say thank you. Four years ago, we were full of energy and looking for a place to put it. Now, we are a tightly woven community and a formidable electoral force. Whatever the outcome, I am incredibly proud of the work we all did over the past four years, and especially for this election cycle. Through the tens and hundreds of thousands of letters, postcards, texts and phone calls, we made a positive difference in turning out voters across the country. Thank you, for everything.

It is not clear when we will know who won this election. Because of the volume of mail-in ballots and the vagaries of election laws among the states, it could be several days before all of the final counts are known. The Message Box and 538 have good guides for what we should expect this evening.

We may be called on in the coming days to head back to the phone and text banks as we try to alert voters to the need to fix mailed ballots. We may also need to take to the streets to Protect the Results. Take some time to rest, and be ready to come back because the fight for this election, and our country, may not yet be over. And there are several resources on our A Free and Fair Election page for what might happen between tomorrow and Inauguration Day.

Thank you again, and have a restful night,

Chris Pickett
