My friends,

Multiple outlets are now saying that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have secured more than the 270 electoral votes they need to become the next President and Vice President of the United States. We won!

That the vote took so long to count is a testament to the people who run our elections and their commitment to get it right, even if it may have caused us a few extra high-stress days for the rest of us.

This is an incredible achievement! We won in the middle of a pandemic against a cheating, incumbent president who ramped up voter suppression to try to win. We elected the first Black and South Asian woman to ever serve as Vice President.

I understand many of us still have lingering concerns about what Trump and his company might do in the next several weeks to try to steal the election and undermine Joe Biden. We will surely be on guard for these actions. But we should also do ourselves the favor of setting aside concerns about the future and enjoying the immense importance and joy of this moment.

Also, we still have a chance to flip the Senate with two Georgia runoff races to be decided on Jan. 5, 2021. But even if we don't flip the Senate, our country will be a far better place once Trump leaves the White House.

I am filled with so many emotions right now, but pride and thankfulness are at the top of my list. I am thankful that we all found each other and came together to form such a formidable electoral force. And I am so damn proud of all the work we put in over the past four years and that it has paid off.

We will be in touch again with future actions. Until then, thank you. Thank you for everything.

Chris Pickett
