Products and Services Newsletter

Are you still giving up $20 per head?

Over the last two newsletters, we shared with you that the average producer is giving up $20 per head between performance and loading of pigs.  That means some producers are giving up less while others are giving up more.  Don't you owe it to yourself to find out where you are?  If you have contract growers or multiple supervisors knowing how they perform within your system is important to you and to them.

Another component of the growing pig program looks at the feed,  the amount per head sold, per pound of gain, average daily intake, feed costs per head, per hundredweight of gain, and average daily feed intake costs.  With feed cost being the biggest component of the growing pig it is important to know where you are how and how that compares to a large number of closeouts outside of your system as well.

Farm Analysis Program

Another report in the Farm Analysis Program looks at how those perform off of a 1st service compared to a 2nd service or 3+ services.   The example below shows that and breaks it down by parity as well.  This allows a further drill down to help finetune techniques and decisions made.  For the 26 week time period the example shows that 1st services were at 87.8% farrowing rate compared to 2nd services at 60.9%. The farm is breeding 1.8% repeats- should they be breeding any at ~ 27% lower farrowing rate?
